Hhand down the best way to control fungus gnats (scarid flies) is to use
beneficial nematodes. They are organic and work the best. I work with them
with my commercial growers all the time. You want the species Steinernema
feltiae. Nematodes work the best because they go after the maggots in the soil
where when you drench with other products like soap, they may not come in
contact with all the larvae.

PS you can use yellow sticky cards to trap the adults

Have to run to catch plane to NC now...... later!

They are not fruit flies.  They probably came in the house in the new potting soil or from the outside when moved plants in. What can I do to get rid of them?...

Well NC will be warmer then PA, but from NC I head to FL to teach another biocontrol workshop so should be a little warmer there.... i need to check on that......
