SPECIAL EVENT WITH FOOD NOT LAWNS AUTHOR, HEATHER C.
FLORES!!!
Workshop Title:
FOOD NOT LAWNS!
How to Turn Your Yard into a Garden And Your
Neighborhood into a Community
Date: Sunday, June 1st | 10AM – 3:30PM
Location: Garden for the Environment, 7th Ave at
Lawton Street, San Francisco. Cost: $15 - $30 Sliding
Scale
Join Heather Flores, author of Food Not Lawns, at
Garden for the Environment for an all-day workshop of
permaculture instruction and community food gardening
conversation. The morning focuses on the basics of
permaculture ethics and principles, as applied in the
small-scale urban garden. The afternoon focuses on
multilevel garden design, and closing resource loops
in areas such as water, waste, labor, and community
interaction. Using classic permaculture principles
such as relative location, stacking functions, and
recycling, we will identify and address recurrent
design challenges. Please bring a vegetarian dish to
share for a potluck lunch at noon. The book Food Not
Lawns will be available for purchase at the workshop.
