Well i got my shadow and i have tried everything but i cant seem to
remove the ...Test/Multimedia Info Message sent ... it shows every time
i sent a message and i dont want it to ... can someone please help me
this thing is supposed to send the settings to make you able to get
mail and internet - I havent tried it yet but will report back when i
do...
I found this blurb in the help section of tmo site. Under Browse
Knoweldge base, and then undr Services/Device setup tools.
T-MobileWeb: The T-Mobile Wireless Configurator can send the T-
MobileWeb configuration settings to a T-MobileWeb compatible phone.
If you are having trouble accessing T-MobileWeb, the T-Mobile
Wireless Configurator can send the correct settings to your phone,
which should resolve the issue. To learn more about T-MobileWeb, go
to Web & Applications.
Picture messaging: The T-Mobile Wireless Configurator can send the
picture messaging configuration settings to a picture messaging
compatible phone. If you are having trouble sending picture messages,
the T-Mobile Wireless Configurator can send the correct settings to
your phone, which should resolve the issue. To learn more about
picture messaging, go to Messaging.
T-Mobile Internet: The T-Mobile Wireless Configurator can send the T-
Mobile Internet configuration settings to a T-Mobile Internet
compatible phone. Once the configuration is complete, your computer
can use your phone as a wireless modem. To access the T-Mobile
Internet section of the T-Mobile Wireless Configurator, a
subscription to the T-Mobile Internet service is required. To learn
more about the T-Mobile Internet service, go to Data and E-mail
Services.
http://tmobileuspublic.wdsglobal.com/
On the tmo website it also says this:
If you have t-zones service you can access your personal mailbox from
your t-zones enabled phone. From the t-zones main menu, navigate to My
E-mail to access your mailboxes.
So if you have the 5.99 tzones plan and set up tmobile to check your
email (as described in a previous post) you can get regular email on
your phone that way too.
Did you know that if people email you, you can get it as a text msg,
this is a little way around not getting email if you dont have the
full internet plan, which I still havent made work.
BUT if you go to your tmo account online and into the Communications
link across the top, then on the right side is Resources, and in that
is a ling to Change my phone's e-mail address .
Set an emal address like tcady@...
Then your friends and family can send emails to that emaila ddress
and it comes to your phone AS A TEXT messg!
I have tested and works great. There is not the same limitation as
text msg, WHICH can only be 160 characters i THINK. Longer emails DO
NOT GET BROKEN UP, THEY ALL COME IN AS ONE LONG TEXT, reads just like
AN email will!
If you have deep access on your email account you can have your
emails all forward to your tmomail text address and get all your
emails that way. like I have my own website and admin to it, so I can
have all email forward to tcady @ tmomail and viola! i get email on
my phone.
I use a bluetooth earpiece all day every day and it actually reads
the whole text message to me! It reads, From: Subject, AND message!
So I get my emails all read out to me in my ear, I dont have to check
email anymore! cool.
(except the spam!)
I did it, I downloaded wavs from web and successfully have it alerting
me with the new sound.
But I use the application by bwana 'Dont Forget' to play them as a
reminder of items. Download it at allshadow.com (do a search)

I was wondering if there is a way to make your own alerts, I tried to
convert an Mp3 to a wav file and also midi and nothing worked. I moved
it into the application data\sounds folder and the phone finds the
file but doesnt play. The error message says that it is either corrupt
or missing.
If anyone knows how I can make my own alerts please let me know
Thank You
Don
I could not get it to work, but people at allshadow.com have.
Maybe chime in the posts there for help?

WOW, I am so glad I just downlaoded and installed Opera Mini.
Since I have free wi-fi almost everywhere I go I want to be able to
go to the web easily.
I was using IE to access the interent, then for some reason it
stopped working, i kept getting 502 errors for everything i tried to
access.
So on allshadow.com people have been suggesitng anyone with trouble
getting to the web try opera mini.
So I decided to try it. and boy let me tell you am I glad I did.
not only did it solve my problem so I can surf now, amd I did not
change a single setting at all, just instyalled it and ran it and it
wokred. But it is WAY - like a gazillion- times better than using IE
too.
It is hard to describe how and why - but it works totally differently
than IE does (on a cellphone). You can zoom in and out. You have an
actual cursor to mve around, its just awesome. It also displays web
pages WAY better than IE. Like Youtube was all stupid messed up in
IE, bnut looks perfect in Opera Mini, also I hear but ahvent tested,
that OM can run videos with out doing anything extra but clicking the
link!
You really have to try it.
http://www.operamini.com/download/pc/generic/generic_advanced_midp_2/
Their website doesnt list the Shadow as a compatible device yet but
you can use this link and odwnlaod these two files and installt hema
nd it will work fine on the Shadow.
You can view a video of how to install it
here :http://www.allshadow.com/2007/12/05/how-to-install-the-
alternative-browser-opera-mini-4/
If you dont like it you can always uninstall it. On my PC I really
like IE and dont want to try anything new, but I am so glad I did on
my phone! I bet you will be too.

I have posted a ton of tips so go online and view the previous posts to
learn alot there. You ownt see alot of new posts from me because I

See my modded phone under photos, upload yours too!
Have fun modding your Shadow.

When you press Start you are shown a list of the apps on your phone -
but they are BIG icons and once I installed alot of new apps it took
10 clicks to scroll thru all the apps...so I rearragned my start menu
to have folders and moved apps into fitting folders like :
Settings, Applications, Accessories, Calling, Games
Now when I click Start I only see these folders and I select one to
get to a much smaller selection of items which by the way are then in
a nice small list fitting many more on the srceen.
Here's how to do it on your PC and see the changes in realtime on
your phone.
Sync your phone to pc.
Use PC Windows Exploere and scroll down to Mobile Device (like an
extra drive)
Open it and open My Mobile Device inside that.
If you havent aready enabled "view hidden system folders and files
see my other post in this group to do that then come back here and
proceed)
Open the Windows folder.
Scroll to Start Menu folder
You'll see all the app shortcuts you see when youpress Start on your
phone here.
Start rearranging it. Just like you would a PC file system.
Right click an empty white area and select New Folder to make a new
folder and name it what you wish, like try Applications.
Then drag and drop all the shortcuts to apps you want in that folder.
Make another folder for Internet, or Settings and put related things
in there. You could have a Misc folder for things that dont fit other
places.
I found at first I couldnt remember where I put items (in which
folder) and had to rearrange again later to make more sense. So think
it out before you do it. But it does make navigating to apps much
faster and easier.
I got a BT earpiece for xmas and could not get my MP3s to play on it.
I figured out how: works great!
from allshadow forum:
Re: Playing Music Through Bluetooth
by n0w_0r_nEv3r on Mon Dec 24, 2007 1:16 am
there is a program called btaudio in mobile.surrealnetworks.com under
dash apps that when you click on the icon in the start menu it allows
all audio to stream to even a regular bluetooth earpiece (not stereo)
(and make sure earpiece is paired) and just select it again to turn
it offn0w_0r_nEv3r
--------------
wht I did was install BTAudio, then set it as a speed dial key.
Turn on music, then press speed dial key to transfer sound to
earpiece.
Works GREAT!!!!
I can now listen to music at work where they dont allow radios on our
desk. I put it in the ear facing away from my office door, so my boss
cant really see it easily. And my 'open' ear is available to answer
the office phone line, or talk to people who stop at my door to chat.
VERY SWEET.
It will be in your list of drives in Windows Explorer after you
connect your phone via USB to the PC.
Scroll down past C: D: E: etc...and see My Shadow
I just found something new when looking for the Windows folder at
work, I had to not only check Show Hidden Files, but alo a little
belwo that, I had to UNcheck "Hide Protected Operating system files".

How do I get to the My Mobile Device area, and the exact steps afterward? Thanks

It appears I finally found an unlock that lets me overwrite the files
in the windows folder. This is required to be able to change the neo
background brown and icons manually. Here it is.

Welcome new members of the shadowphone yahoo group, thanks for joining.
There are alot of great tips on past posts I have entered so go to the
group online and review past posts, or post your own tip if you know
something I don't.

To Reset to factory defaults do this:
Starts > Accessories > Clear StorageBrandon Miniman
it goes back to factory settings if you already deleted the files
and/or replaced them with something
the phone has setup cabs stored on a chip somewhere. ONce you hit clear
storage it will completely re-install the phone from scratch, using the
setup cabs.
It's like reformatting your hard drive and using the cd to reinstall
your machine.
(mostly from Bwana The Iguana on Allshadow.com)
If anything ever goes wrong when editing the registry on your phone do
a hard reset. rob54 says It fixes everything. Including deleting files.
So I hope you backed up all your files! (if you use syncing to PC you
should have a copy of them all there. Tip: I downlaod apps to a
different folder on my PC than my phone folder so I always have those
cab files. I copy them to the phone folder to use them.
I finally found a shopping list program for the Shadow.
Its not free, it has a free trial but its $29 to keep using after 30
days, but worth it cause you can do ALOT with it. I will buy it.
You can make your own outlined lists, sort, filter, indent, group items,
attach pics to items and more...work on your PC or phone and sync lists.
very nice. I have used it and it works great.
Go here to download the installation file, run it on your PC with you
phone plugged in (so download the link to Windows Mobile Smartphone
Smartphone + Windows PC )
Go here to download lists others have made to use with it- all kinds of
neat lists http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/lp/lp_lesearch.php
like I got a shopping list.
Save the clf list file to your root My Docs folder on your phone and
use the File menu of the List Pro app to open the list.
Download a regedit program. I got PHM Registry Editor, works good and
easy. Install to your phone (see previous post on how to install apps)
Press Start and find and open the Registry Editor program.
Select in this order:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\CHome
Click on CClock to edit its values.
change value DISABLE from 1 to 0
Restart your phone. I actually had some weird behaviors when I
restarted, the Unlock screen appeared and stayed there - the YES and
No items did not work, I pressed the shortcuts button and it went
away. Now it seems fine.
This will actually ADD an icon to the top of the main left hand menu
of the NEO interface, a HOME icon. The Home screen has your desktop
pic and a BIG easy to read clock and smaller date and wifi status.
Sweet.
Then you fave 5s is accessible one down from the Home icon, click it
to bring up your fave 5.
Now clicking the HOME button on the faceplate will hide your fave 5s,
a nice privacy feature - no more "Whats my girlfriend doing in your
fave5?"
NOTE - mod your registry at your risk. I have found another issue, my
Task Manager freezes and wont open now! I have seena mod to fix that
so will try it.
Did you know you can delete text and email messages from the main
messages lists by highlighting it and *holding* the 7 key for a few
seconds
