CookenPro 3.0
CookenPro Commercial users should watch for the release of the multi-
user system early in December. Current CookenPro Commercial users
will have 30 days, starting on the day of the release, to network
enable their programs for no additional charge. The enabling
software, allowing multiple users to share the same database on a
network, will be priced at $99.95.
A very powerful feature of the network version is to allow users to
click back and forth between the network database and a working copy
of the database on their own computer. This allows a user to
conveniently continue work when the network is unavailable for any
reason or to install CookenPro on a laptop, click to local, and then
be able to work on the laptop, off-line, at home or on business.
When the user returns, he or she exports the work to their desktop,
clicks to network, and then imports the work into the network
database. Four levels of security prevent unauthorized access to
data and system functions.
New customers can purchase a single client and upgrade to a multi-
user system at any time by purchasing the enabling
software.Barrington Software also announces development of a POS
interface with Datasym. With 120,000 installed terminals in North
America, Datasym is one of the largest POS terminal manufactures on
the continent. Datasym POS terminals are located in cafeterias,
fast food and convenience stores, cafeterias, and small to medium
sized groceries. The interface transfers information to a CookenPro
sales module and a separate labor costing and scheduling program.
All are to be released this quarter and will be modestly priced.
