Hi all,

I need some help with a formula in Excel 2007. I need to count a column's
entries and total them in a total line. The entries have to meet two conditions:
"N/A" or "Yes" (without the quotes).

I've tried about 30 formulas and can't get this to work. Here are a couple of
examples I've used:

=COUNTIF(D33:D129,"Yes")OR(D33:D129,"N/A")

=COUNTIF(D33:D129,"Yes")+(D33:D129,"N/A")

=COUNTIF(D33:D129,"Yes"),(D33:D129,"N/A")

=DCOUNTA(D33:D129,,I1:J2)
where I1 and J1 are the column header that the data is in. The I2 and J2
are the values of "Yes" and "N/A"

I know this is probably simple for those of you who are used to using formulas.
I'm just getting started and need your help.

Thanks
Gil

I'm runnning Windows 7. There are incremental improvements in the new version,
but if you have XP and are happy, you can probably pass on it.

If it's malware, run malwarebytes. IF you can't boot the drive, you'll need to
pull the drive, install it as a slave, and scan it in a non-infected machine.

Highly rated free anti-virus programs include Avira, avast, and avg.

Might you know what bug you're contracted. Is it a virus or malware?

The answer may well vary by your system and it's components. You might also be
able to identify your network card in device manager, click on properties, and
change the setting without entering the bios.

In the meantime, while you ponder whether to provide additional information,
here's a link to get you started:

Hi again,

My friend died, I really don't have anyone else to help me here and no cash to
buy yet another computer.

I have tried the three suggestions for starting WFWG sent by Rick I think, but
none of them helped. It starts but is unusable, nothing like it should be. I
think the only way is to try to find the hard disk manufacturer and then try to
get the disk driver from them.

My original question was how to find the hard disk manufacturer? I guess I
should have asked how to remove the hard disk, since MSD doesn't name them it
must be written on it somewhere. I've never done this before.

I still have the original hard disk, so could at a pinch (with Christmas cash)
could get it copied yet again. Maybe getting a smaller hard disk would solve
this problem the easiest way. Don't have a CD burner on that PC.

Original HD was 130 meg, current is 2007 meg and I think this is the problem.

I keep the old computer because I'm really fast in Wordperfect and get lots
done. I have tried unsucessfully to master the Windows Wordperfect 12 but can't
get it. I also don't want to lose everything if the newer computer with
internet gets viruses or something else nasty from the internet. I'm really
trying to just protect my work. By the way I have no idea where all this
underlining is coming from!

thanks again

Sue

To get into the BIOS, the ones I've used lately are:
Esc and then Del OR F2,
or by themselves:
Del,
F2.
There are lots of others.
In some BSIOS(s), you go to the BOOT section on the right menu bar
and look in there.

As Vince said, there are many ways this can look.

I get these annoying ads every hour or so on my computer and went to the AVG web
site to learn about version 9. Unfortunately I don't have the minimum system
requirements for this new version. I've already lost ADAware, they no longer
support free version. Now it looks as though I'll lose AVG too. That leaves me
with Spybot. I'll go look at that AVAST free and hope my system can run it.
Don't think Spybot alone is enough?

Sorry for your loss.

I can't give a full answer at this time. And I'm getting confused about what to
do next, especially with limited resources,
but I have some ideas to toss around.

Be careful handling the hard drives as the slightest bump on an
old one has been known to render it useless. (They get more fragile
with age, so to speak.)

If you can't get the program or operating system to start with what
you have, I think the next step (or first) is to start getting the
data somewhere safe. If you loose that, everything else will be in
vain.
Side note: Does the computer have a "Turbo" button, or something similar?

AFTER you get the old data safe, it might be a good idea to use a program to
convert it to a modern type of file format that can be
carried forward a little easier.

I'm runnning Windows 7. There are incremental improvements in the new
version, but if you have XP and are happy, you can probably pass on it.

There are different methods Sam. Try this one:

Press the Windows logo key (with the Microsoft flag on it) plus R to open
the Run command. Alternatively, you can open it through Start - All
Programs - Accessories - Run.

Type msconfig in the run command box where it says Open: and hit OK.

Click on the Boot tab and remove the checkmark from the Safe Boot box and
click Apply.

Restart the computer and it should start up in Normal mode.

Alan
p.s. if you ever want to start up in Safe Mode, just repeat the process
described above but put a checkmark in Safe Boot

Spybot is not even in the same neighborhood as good enuff.

Based on your other posts are running a WFW 3.1 and were using a 130mb HDD
which failed after 15+ years.

Perhaps you can explain what system you have and that miight give us something

I get these annoying ads every hour or so on my computer and went to the AVG web
site to learn about version 9. Unfortunately I don't have the minimum system
requirements for this new version. I've already lost ADAware, they no longer
support free version. Now it looks as though I'll lose AVG too. That leaves me
with Spybot. I'll go look at that AVAST free and hope my system can run it.
Don't think Spybot alone is enough?

I am thinking of a TV with 720 pixels. My question is: does satellite reception
make up for the pixels in the TV? 1040 pixels (I think it is) cost more, but is
there a real difference in reception and clarity?
Thanks, Jackie

In addition to what Mr. Babaluscan has identified, the other aspect to contend
with is your service provider. A buddy of mine has satellite and he's quite the
afficionado with high-end tv's. I turn to him for practical aspects of this area
as he really studies it. He's configured his dish with optical cable from the
dish to the tv. He claims it an absolute deal breaker for screen quality.

If you have satellite you should talk to them about what reception they support.
1080p in High Definition (HD) is about the best it gets these days. In my view
it is very noticeable and you can discern the difference from 720 p or i. My
tv's are 1080i HD and very good but I can see small but subtle differences when
I watch tv with him.

My suggestion would be to go to a tv store that is setup with the range of tv's
you wish to buy. Have the sales guy configure them identically for you. There's
a bit of sales stuff that goes on with the tv's they want to sell. Those are
dialed-in perfectly. Those they are less motivated to move are less well
configured by the store. Also, read up on the tv you want in places like
pcworld, pcmagagzine and other outlets.

hello guys,
please help me.
i don't know much stuff about computers except for basic surfing on the net and
some simple downloads like music, etc.

my first problem is wifi connection.
i am connected to a wi-fi network, that is confirmed, but every time i pull up
websites,
i always get a message "internet explorer cannot display page" or something to
that effect as if i am not connected to internet at all.
it happens all the time when i am only connected to wi-fi.
when i use mozilla it says something like "address not found" or stuff like
that.
but i am very sure i am connected to internet thru wi-fi only websites won't
load up.

when i use my wireless broadband i can connect to internet and access websites
like normal.
please help me what might be wrong and what i can do about it.
thanks a lot.

my second problem is i dont know why i cannot download limewire software for
downloading music, etc.
whenever i install it, it always says something about needing to install java
first in my computer,
or needing to download java first,
when i install or download java, it says it is in progress but after sometime
nothing happens.
i wait and wait for minutes even up to an hour or so but still nothing happens,
and it is just stuck to saying that it is in progress.
it is like that every time i try to download limewire.
please help. i can't pick the right words to ask, if you have any idea about my
problems here, and how to fix them, please help.
i would really really appreciate that.
thanks so much.
jen

A couple of questions:

How do you know you're connected to a wifi network? Is it yours? Do you have a
strong signal?

Are there times when your connection is good or is it bad all the time?

What type (brand name, model number) of computer do you have?

Perhaps you should visit the java site first to download java apart from the
limewire.

http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Be careful with limewire. Lots of potential bad things there.

I am using Windows Security Essentials and nothiing else for security.

I have tried holding down CTRL but that makes no difference.

I don't know why your system refuses to download it, you don't say which version
of Windows you're using, but there is an alternative to "Real" that you might
want to try instead:
