Re: [simpoint] frequency vector profile question

There used to be support for Early SimPoints which would capture the simulation points as early as possible to avoid lengthy runtimes, and they had information regarding the accuracy of this method.  It appears to have been removed with the latest version of SimPoint according to this link.  You may be able to use an older version and to find information (perhaps even publications) about Early SimPoints and its accuracy.

Good luck,
Robert

Hi Folks,

I have a question related to generating the frequency vector profile.
Suppose that I use the updated sim-fast to generate the *.bb.gz files,
shall I run the benchmarks till completion, which may take days, to do
that? Is there any study that shows how much accuracy I loose if I run
each benchmark, say, for 100B instructions?

Thanks

If frequency vectors are collected for only part of the execution, there is no guarantee it will capture all behaviors in the program execution. SimPoint will...
