I am trying to get Proxy items working in SC53.

I have followed the documentation, as it applies, on the following
page:

I have verified that the web.config file has the shadowProvider and
proxiesEnabled tags uncommented or set to true.

Whenever I set the master db to "Activate Proxies", the content editor
disappears (by design), and when I reload the Content Editor no change
in the proxy item. All I see is the single proxy item itself.

Is there something funny with SC53 or am I missing an obvious step?
