Re: [skychart-discussion] Re: 2009 PGC/LEDA Galaxy catalog now available

Hiya Rod - I can change the path of any catalog that I added in the
setup/catalog/catalog area. However, I cannot change the path of any catalog in
the default catalog areas "setup/catalog/cdc deep sky" and "cdc stars". Further,
since I could not "add" the pgc 2009 catalog because it does not have a .hdr
file, I cheated and renamed the pgc 2009 folder in the CAT directory to "pgc" as
it is named in the unchangeable default catalog area and now CDC recognizes the
catalog and displays the galaxies.

Can you chage the paths in the default "setup/catalog/cdc deep sky" and "cdc
stars". areas?

I'm still stumpted by the fact that I cannot "add" a catalog that does not
contain a .hdr file (The cdc download areas contain many catalogs like this.

If you can't change the paths, there is something wrong with your
installation. Clicking the folder icon beside the file path listing
certainly allows me to change those paths to anything I want.

That procedure does not work. The file path of the default catalogs
(setup/catalog/cdc deep sky, cdc stars, and obsolete) do not allow the user
to change the file paths. Then going back to the original problem: The
setup/catalog/catalog "add" function will not recognize a catalog unless its
folder includes a ".hdr" file. The downloaded pgc 2009 does not include a
.hdr file in the downloaded folder. CDC will not, therefore, recognize the
catalog.

Hi Bob,
I think itīs nevertheless no problem. In place of "activating" doubleclick
the folder-symbol on the right. Then you can search, where your pgc-folder
really is. You can even try this with other catalogs, getting the same
result, if you sure installed them.
I think V3.1 doesnīt find it automatically like V2.76 (?)
Kindly regards
Charlyms
