Hello Johnny
Congradultations on picking up both the S S 312 and the SIC 1515 (as you
have said, it is the same as the Relay 151). They are both very nice
roles. The Ricoh/Relay 151 is one of my personal favorites and one that
I carry with me all the time. THe 312 is a very similar rule, but it is
like the Cadilac of them with the scale extentions and the red
highlighted scales. I have both, but like the 312 for it's appearance.
It is also handy they both have the P scale on them being as they were
from overseas. There has been a lot discussion in the past over personal
favorites. There is the ever favored Faber/Castell 2/83N. It is indeed
a beautiful slide rule. My person preference is toward the bamboo
rules. The slide action of them seems to be the best. Among my
favorites are the Faber/Castell 2/83N, the Post Versalog II, and many of
the Aristo high end rules. I'd have to say my favorites in the Aristo
line are the 970, and one that I recently purchased (VERY IMPRESSIVE) the
0969. Now if I can get my hans on the Hyperlog 0972. Back to the 151
though. I feel it is one of the best for multiple uses. The 25 scale
set is fantastic and you are still able to pick them up on eBay for
around $25. What a deal, I'd guess they ran slightly more than that new
in the late 60s to early 70's!
Best Regards,
Miles Schumacher
