Hi all,
http://www.slodotnet.org/meeting.aspx
As promised, here are the meeting details for this next meeting,
which starts at 5:30 on next Tuesday, Dec 12th. Some of you have
already said you can't make it and that's fine, no need to reply
again.
The meeting is at the San Luis Business Center:

The building has good parking around its outside, and a parking lot
as well just south of the complex. There is a door on the rear
(east) side of the building that I will leave propped open for
people to come in. The meeting will be in one of the center's
conference rooms.
My cell phone is 805-286-7735 if anyone has problems that night
getting to the building or what have you.
See then!
Rob
Just a reminder that our next meeting will be next Tuesday, December
12th. I will be presenting on Microsoft Message Queueing and how
it can be used to offload work from your applications to an
asynchronous process. I'm open to suggestions for other presenters
as well going forward.
The meeting will be held at the San Luis Business Center where my
office is (Address below). I will send more details at the end of
the week.
Hope to see you then!

Ok all, I have put in our first Ineta speaker request for some time in
the spring, asking for Web Services, VB.NET, and/or ADO.NET. I will
let you know when/if I hear something.
Hi Rob,
That's great news on the INETA approval. From the topics you listed I
would be most interested in the Web Services, XML, and ASP.NET.

I'd be interested in VB.Net, Web Services, ADO. The other topics are good too, but these would be at the top of my list.

I am most interested in ADO.NET, VB.NET,
and Web Services but any of these would be good to know.
Most of my development work revolves around
the ie-document object and text mining/modeling, which require complex structured
database use. The typical purpose is to convert freeform text into manageable
structured data mostly for marketing purposes.

Hi all,
Contrary to what I was told, I was able to get INETA Approval with
only one meeting. So...I need suggestions on what topics to ask
for for speakers in the spring. They are booked up until March and
I need a 6 - 8 week lead time to get a speaker in. So please send
me your requests asap...topics that I can pick from include:
ADO.NET
ASP.NET
C
Databinding
Remoting
VB.NET
Web Services
XML

Good morning everyone.
We had our first meeting last night, and by all accounts it was a
success and a great start. We had 10 people show up for pizza,
some free gifts, and some lively discussion about our presentation
on .NET 3.0 Packaging, as well as conducting business and networking
in the area, and .NET in general. I'm looking forward to our next
meeting, which I will make arrangements for shortly. The date will
be Dec 12th, tentatively at the same location.
Some of the feedback I got last night, just so everyone can put
their thinking caps on as far as how to make the group better:
More "real-world" discussion as part of presentations along with the
technical side of things
More references to resources
A desire for speakers from outside the area
More discussion on what people's interests area so we can get
appropriate presenters (ie. Smart Client vs Web etc)
As I said last night, I am open to getting people in from outside
the area (I have two or three contacts I can probably have come in),
but the big thing for that is for us to continue to have solid
meetings so we can get INETA recognized and start to take advantage
of their presenters.
As it stands right now, the next presentation will be my talk on
Microsoft Message Queueing services. However, I am open to
alternative suggestions if there is something a little more general
that the group is interested in, or a talk that you would like to
give. No topic is off limits provided it has some relevance to .NET
or a related Microsoft technology (ie Sql Server CLR executables,
which are .NET based).
Thanks to everyone who participated. See you on December 12th!
Rob
