Hello All
I have an olivetti philos 44 (486SL laptop with 4 MB of ram, 120MB
HDD, PCMCIA 10MBPS NIC and a propriatery sound card!!!!). It
recently got Small Linux 0.7.5. It works like a charm i must
confess. However, there are a couple of questions that i would like
to ask:
1. Is there any support for PCMCIA in 0.7.5? If not do i need to
recompile the kernel to include that? It would be so great to have
that network card up and running.
2. Regarding compiling the kernel. What would be a linux
distribution most closely resembling Small Linux? I am thinking of
installing that one in some machine and do all the compiling in that
one and then transfer files to the laptop. Oh and another
thing...why isnt the kernel compiled for multithreading? (while i
was copying some files from the floppy i switched to another
terminal and tried to logon but it only proceeded after the copy was
finished :-( )
3. Is there any package containing all the necessary files to
install gcc 2.7.2.3? (I am talking about getting the initial
compiler and libs needed)
Thanks in advance for any help you wish to provide.
