Given that MinML seems to have two problems:
a) It is not MinML as in ML == meta language
b) The Wilson Partnership registered MinML.COM/ORG
on 13 APR 2000 of this year.
Thus, MinML is not a good name; despite the enormous time
we have spent to come up with it. And given that I'm
leaning more towards a YML-ish MinXML, I think I'm
going to use the following name for the markup langauge
that I'm working on... YAML (Yet Another Markup Language).
From what I remember; someone else came up with this
name along time back (I think Oren). Anyway, I registered
YAML.ORG for this purpose; and I considered it owned
by the SML-DEV community for the purpose of a YML
specifcation and API.
Kind Regards,
Clark
P.S. There is no record that I saw of "MinML" on our mailing
lists before 13 APR 2000. Thus, there is a good chance
we infact adopted the name from John Wilson himself.
P.S.S. I actually like YAML as in Yet Another Meta Language
as well. I've been thinking of converting MoscowML
parser to use XMLish tags; which, btw, would require
the very liberal character usage restrictions described
in my last e-mail. Anyway, this is probabaly a pipe-dream
as I just don't have the time...
