Not all US networks support sender ID.

SMS text messages sent to mobile phones on the networks Nextel, Sprint
PCS, U.S. Cellular and Alltel don't support sender ID.

The networks AT&T, Cingular, Verizon and T-Mobile do support sender ID.

Note that not your own mobile network counts but the network of the
recipient.
