Hi François,

That's right. I own a Siemens Gigaset C100 with which I can send and
receive SMS.
It's a just a wireless home-phone.
I don't konw if SMS Mac could do that... ?

Best,
Philippe

Hi all,

I know there are now home/ground phones (I mean non-mobiles, I don't
know how to call them...) that can receive SMS. Specially the new
Siemens DECT Gigaset phones, for example.
It would be great to give the possibility to send SMS to all kind of
phones, and not only to cell phones.
Would that be feasible ?

Thanks for the information.
I understand your point.

I have another question, but I'll open a new discussion for that.

No. Please look at the preferences (click the Configure button).

The feature called caller ID explicitly allows you to set your
identity, i.e. your mobile phone number.

You can also enter an alphanumeric string here, or you can
send an SMS without caller ID (anonymous).

>I mean, can the receiver find back the name of the sender of an SMS
>sent with smsmac ?

If you specify the caller ID and set it to your name or your
mobile number: yes.

>I am afraid people (specially phone marketers) could use smsmac

No, this is not possible, because we sell bundles of 100 SMS each
and we have procedures in place to not sell an amount of bundles
that would amount to SPAM.

BTW: each SMS costs really money to the sender and it is not at
all free. Another inhibitor to SPAM. Plus the fact we have the
identity of each and every subscriber of SMS Mac.

Email SPAMmers only get away with it, because they hide their
identity.

Hi everybody,

here is my question for the developpers :

is smsmac truly anonymous ? I mean, can the receiver find back the name
of the sender of an SMS sent with smsmac ?
I am afraid people (specially phone marketers) could use smsmac to send
anonymous commercial sms.
Thanks for your answer.

No. We are trying to get the cost per SMS down and the way we are
trying that is using another gateway for the expensive countries. As it
happens the expensive countries are: France, German, Spain and Italy.

Please send us your mobile number when you are in one of these
countries and would not mind receiving a test SMS.

On the question side, can I set it up so she can answer back somehow?

Yes, when you set the caller ID to a text string (alphanumeric
caller ID), the recipient cannot automatically reply to the SMS
anymore. This is because the originator's mobile number was
replaced by the alphanumeric value.

I'll add a warning or alert to the program to make this more clear.

I sent a few messages with a text string entered in the Caller ID
box. A few pals replied to my sent messages but I never received
them. Just wondered where these messages would have ended up?

I have now entered my mobile number and all is now working.

Thanks for creating a really cool bit of software. Look forward to

Hi, Alco!

You already know you can use my number.

I'm sure Kris would be happy to help you, but unfortunately, he doesn't

My Amy also uses Verizon. Her number is +16512498423 and she has a Mac,

Yes, you are right of course, but I'll explain.

I could, in principle, make the widget available and I'll give it

However, I am currently totally rewriting it, because we want to
