Description

This list is for the discussion of sociocracy, a method of governance developed by Gerard Endenburg in the Netherlands in the 1960s, based on the work of Kees Boeke and cybernetic theory. It uses consent decision-making for setting policy and in the assignment of roles and responsibilities to individual members. It is used in many kinds of organizations all over the world, including businesses, associations, and schools.

List members include many who have little familiarity with sociocracy, others who are becoming trainers in sociocracy, and some who are experts with years of experience.

This is an international list so English is not the native language of all members. When posting, please be tolerant of awkward word usage and clarify meanings when necessary. Don't assume that emotionally ladened or overly emphatic words, for example, are meant to be provocative, or even emotional or emphatic.

Sociocracy is a method of governance, not an ideology. The tone of the list is inquiry and exploration. Please limit postings to questions and information directly related to sociocracy, including its methods and principles, its applications, its literature, and the community of people learning and applying its methods.

Otherwise, have fun and enjoy learning this new and exciting method of governance.
