... No it does NOT. Please read the note in the man to learn the difference between shutdown, init, and poweroff, halt, reboot. Beside, "now" is a parameter...

... There really is no better if you use -i6 what happens the system will shutdown then restart. -i5 is the only init option to use when you want to power off...
