Who is http://www.altenergyaction.org in any case? Why are they
publishing a story about a book Powersat that is about Scary SPS's?
I've not read the book but the weaponized SPS seem kind of hard to
accept as a piece of Sci Fi. If they were interested in alternative
energy why would they publish information about a book that demonizes an
alternative energy source? I have more questions than answers about them.

Let me write the script. Let see, it starts with an SPS already built
and its control center is ahhhh....taken over by terrorists....who have
an insider that opens the rear door....they demand concessions from the
...U.S. imperialists pigs. John Segall uses his marshal arts knowledge
to do a slow motion fight and defeats the terrorists. I'm probably
very close to being right.

How about this, maybe the book will get will raise national interest to
the point where the 2008 election campaign will hinge on who will build
SPSs faster. Wrong. The asteroid impact movies resulted in $30 Million
for the near earth asteriod search program. When we worked on getting
money for the now discredited NASA 1979 SPS baseline study we got $30
million. Today we would need to get $300 million for another study
today. It would be nice if it was not discredited as the 1st was.
