Notebooks for Solidworks???   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #168 of 2839 |
I've been looking into different notebooks for sometime. I use
primarily Solidworks 2005 or 2006 but also use AutoCad, MasterCam,
IntelliCad and 3DS Max.

I do have 2 great workstations that I use in my office but need a
mobile solution to take to customers or toolmakers. I even play a
few games and wouldn't mind watching a movie on the plane once in a
while.

I've been comparing: Dell, Sager PC, Go-L, Hypersonic, Alienware,
and now Boxx with the Quadro FX line in mind.

I want to spend around $5k or less and was looking for some people
with experience. Looks as though I've found some.

M70: I've heard of problems with the M70 overheating and locking up
or terminating in SolidWorks, so I've pretty much eliminated it from
my list.

Alienware: Doesn't really offer everything I want at a reasonable
cost so they are out.

Sager PC: I've heard good and bad but can't seem to configure a
machine to my specs on thier site. ????

Go-L: Same problem with these guys.

Hypersonic: Seems to offer what I want in either an Intel or AMD but
could use some help deciding which chipset (in either Intel or AMD).

FX7 ) or ( http://secure.hypersonic-pc.com/scr

EX7 ) The price is about right (and close to the same)with either.

I don't know much about the new nVidia Go GTX line of cards so I
would choose the Quadro FX option.

Boxx: 2300 Series seems a bit clunky but the specs are ok.
