Dear Members,

I am a new member, and maybe this is an elementary question. But I am
trying to find out if when I am doing a machine layout and inserting
parts into an assembly and/or creating parts in the layout/assembly.

Can I put in dimensions between different centerlines of parts? I am
used to working in Autocad and if any of you have worked in machine
design this "layout" procedure is how many machine assemblies start
out.
I am aware of assembly mates, are these the only dimensions available.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

If anyone was at SolidWorks World, they for sure saw the new nVidia
Cards comming out. They are said to be the fastest workstation
cards ever. Well I was they guy who one the Model Mania contest,
and my prize was the top dog. The nVidia Quadro FX 2000. I have no
use for something this powerful, at home or work. We already have
128's at work, and at home, I don't have the RAM to even create the
models this would support. So, I've decided to sell it. The
cheapest price I've found so far for it is $1,875. If anyone is
interested in this let me know. I would be willing to "make a
deal". I have not recieved the card yet, as it isn't even shipping
until this week. I should get it in the next week or so. If you
have any question's let me know otherwise check www.nvivia.com. I
would hate to see this card being used for designing machines. Plus
if you do any animations or phot renderings, this is the card.
Especially if you've seen the new real-time rendering that
SolidWorks 2004 is going to support.

Robert,

With SolidWorks 2003, you can import CADKEY part and assembly files
directly in. I do not know of anyone who has tried this, but the
help files state that you need to have version 19 files.

If you would like me to test a couple of parts for you, let me know.

Good Luck!

cannot apply a sketch to a nonplanar surface
Is there a way around this?
i have a pattern of pockets that have to be extrude/cut out around
the perimeter of a 7" x 3" piece of 4140.this pattern revolves around
the part in 45 deg increments and all 8 pockets fall to a uniform
depth.
i attempted to set up an 8 sided polygon outside the perimeter of the
round part and draw my patterns on the 8 faces and extrude/cut
through both pieces but it wont allow me to make the polygon ring
saying it would create a disjointed part.which makes sense, its not
attached to the body of the part.
I am at a loss.
ny suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I have posted a picture and file in the files portion of this group.
I am having probems with this bottle design. I cannot get the faces
in-between the lofted faces to look smooth. I have been told already
by one person that My approach was wrong I would greatly appreciate
and help or advice anyone can give to help me out on this one. The 4
guide curves act as the geometry that I need to constrain to and the
loft profiles are also constraining geometry.
Anyone out there with more experience with this stuff? I am getting
close to my deadline and cannot come up with an answer.
