How to append spamguard.log

Maybe I am not understanding the instructions, but how
do you "append" the log? Last time, with the previous
release, I modified
/var/qmail/supervise/qmail-send/log/run as follows:

exec /usr/local/bin/setuidgid qmaill
/usr/local/bin/multilog t
!/usr/local/bin/logappend.sh /var/log/qmail

But it doesn't appear to do anything - the current
file stops running, but the spamguard.log doesn't get
created.

I am running qmail on Freebsd 4.x, BTW. Standard install.
