RE: [spyware] Removing Trojan "viruses".

You need to create a boot cd on an uninfected computer. They are free. Use
either of these programs to create the CD (instructions are included).

http://www.ubcd4win.com/ (Ultimate Boot CD For Windows is the one I use and
recommend)

http://www.hiren.info/ (Hiren's Boot CD Used by a friend and recommended by
him)

Both are good programs it's just a matter of preference. I use the first
because that is the one I use.

Boot from CD using either of these programs and remove the virus before it
loads itself into memory.

Zone Alarm is a good firewall. Avira is a good anti virus. Webroot
Spysweeper is good anti spyware. All have a free version. You can find all
of them using Google.

Hope this helps you.

Tom

Subject: [spyware] Removing Trojan "viruses".

Removing Trojan "viruses".

I've got Trojan "viruses" on my computer and I can't delete them. I'm
using Windows 2000. They do things like disabling Task Manager so you
can't quit stuff, disabling access to the C drive, changing the
screen to one giant alert, and endless new web pages and redirections
that say, "Warning!! You're in trouble! Buy our software!".

I scanned C drive and Memory with ClamWin and a bunch came up. Some
examples are:
C:\WINNT\system32\geBUSLxv.dll : Trojan Agent - 68 Found
C:\WINNT\system32\blphcp6rjOe1aa.scr: Trojan.FakeAlert-536 Found

So I open C:\WINNT\system32, but when I try to delete them, a pop-up
window says, Cannot Delete: blphcp6rjOe1aa.scr. The specified file is
being used by Windows.
I've tried starting in safe mode but they still load before I can get
rid of them.

3 Questions. Please help me:

1.) How can I delete/remove these things?
2.) Are there any firewall, anti-spy, anti-fake alert programs
out there on c/net or download.com or something that actually work
well? I've downloaded ClamWin, Dr. this and that, etc., and none of
them actually do the job, or they go half way and then try to get you
to buy something. I have all Norton's stuff but it's expired so it
really doesn't work anymore. Is there anything I can download NOW
that can help before I make my way to the store to buy MacAfee or
something?
3.) And last. What kind of companies cripple people's computers
as a marketing strategy for there products? This is such a huge
disruption. My computer is essentially useless. I'm actually posting
this from a friend's. Please let me know if anyone is aware of any
class action lawsuits or BBB efforts to counter this obnoxious
extortion. I would be happy to contribute testimony, evidence, money,
or anything else to stop this.

Thanks VERY VERY VERY much, in advance.
