SCWC friends,

Please join us on Weds. July 16 at 6:30 – 8:30 pm to label storm drains in Southwest Ames. (see City Side article below for info about our drain labeling effort).   

We will be meeting at the intersection of Emerson and Thackeray.  Go west on Lincoln Way.  Thackeray is the 2^nd street past the Kum and Go located at North/South Dakota & Lincoln Way.  Go left on Thackeray to Emerson (about 2 blocks).

We will be starting in a neighborhood that has been the focus of efforts to improve water quality in College Creek.  Mimi Wagner and her students in Landscape Architecture have built bio-retention cells (essentially rain gardens) on the properties of about 8 homeowners in that neighborhood.  (This is supported by a state WIRB funds under a grant that was submitted by IISU and the City of Ames).  One of the homeowners in this neighborhood, Alan Eggenberger, will be joining us, and has agreed to give us a “mini-tour” of the his property.
