The Squaw Creek Watershed Coalition invites you to participate in the
IOWATER Statewide Water Monitoring Snapshot!
This will be our 5th snapshot, so for the snapshot veterans familiar
with the process here's the short version:
1) IOWATER Volunteers, please check your supplies! We'll order
replacements next Thursday, October 2nd.
2) IOWATER Volunteers, please indicate whether or not you may be able
to assist, so we can plan accordingly!
3) The informational meeting will be held at 6 PM Monday October 6th at
the State Forest Nursery on South Duff Avenue (Hwy 69) across from Lowe’s.
4) We'll meet at Brookside Park at 9AM October 11th to receive sampling
instructions and sample bottles. (Come early, we'll have coffee)
5) Samples and data should be returned to the park by 1PM.
Of course ALL SCWC and community members are welcome to participate, so
we hope more of you will join us. Maybe we'll award a valuable prize for
the "handsomest aquatic invertebrate" collected!
And here's the long version:
On Saturday October 11th we will sample 54 sites in the Squaw Creek
Watershed, including tributaries Prairie and Montgomery Creeks, Gilbert,
Onion, Clear and College Creeks, Worrell Creek and others.
In addition to the IOWATER field tests we will collect samples
to be tested at the state hygienics lab.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
(1)Attend an informational meeting at 6 PM Monday October 6th at the
State Forest Nursery located on South Duff Avenue (Hwy 69) across from
Lowe’s.
(2)Participate in the snapshot event on Saturday October 11th. Meet at
Brookside Park at 9:00 AM to receive sampling instructions and lab
sample bottles. Lab samples and field data must be returned to
Brookside Park by 1:00 PM.
(3)If you are an IOWATER Volunteer, please check your supplies! We can
assist in replenishing expired, broken or missing IOWATER supplies if
you will let us know in advance what is needed. Please check all
expiration dates and sampling equipment to ensure that you will be
prepared to sample on the 11th, and please contact us before Thursday
October 2nd so that your supplies can be ordered and delivered with the
sample bottles. Extra supplies will not be available at the snapshot event.
It is very helpful for planning purposes to know who will be
participating. If you cannot attend the informational meeting but would
like to volunteer for the snapshot event, please contact
rick@... or at 708-3047.
