Hi all,
We want to let you know about a Frontline episode tonight (Tuesday April 21st) at 8:00pm. Frontline is aired on Iowa Public Television. This episode, Poisoned Waters, is focused on the condition of our waterways and the rising hazards to human health and ecosystems.  The episode will also run four times tomorrow.

Beaver Dam Removal
The beaver dam was removed approximately one week ago. Iowa DNR successfully relocated the beavers to a farm near Esterville, Iowa. A local farmer is restoring wetlands on his farm, modeling the restoration after one in the Western U.S. where beavers were utilized.

As-Built Ames Middle School Creek Restoration Site Tour:
Join us on Thursday May 7th behind the Ames Middle School to view the newly completed restoration practices. Seventh grade science students as well as Boy Scout Troop 140 constructed stream bank and stabilization practices as well as stabilized two gullies leading into College Creek. Native shrubs, sedges, and rushes were also planted to enhance the stream corridor and stabilize soil.  See the recent Ames Tribune article featuring the 7th grade class work:  http://www.amestrib.com/articles/2009/04/11/ames_tribune/news/doc49dffc99d7c9d258413976.txt
