Beaver Dam Removal The beaver dam was removed approximately one week ago. Iowa DNR successfully relocated the beavers to a farm near Esterville, Iowa. A local farmer is restoring wetlands on his
farm, modeling the restoration after one in the Western U.S. where beavers were utilized.
Next Creek Chat As-Built Ames Middle School Creek Restoration Site Tour: Join us on Thursday May 7th behind the Ames Middle School to view the newly completed restoration practices. Seventh grade science students as well as Boy Scout Troop 140 constructed stream bank and stabilization practices as well as stabilized two gullies leading into College Creek. Native shrubs, sedges, and rushes were also planted to enhance the stream corridor and stabilize soil.
