Hi all,
I am a new addition to your list serve. I work
at Winrock International in Nepal on climate change and the clean
development mechanism (CDM). We are currently in the process of
developing CDM project ideas from Nepal that can benefit from
carbon financing. We came to know about the SRI method and are
interested in evaluating its potential in reducing methane. I have
been working in close cooperation with Mr. Rajendra Uprety, who is
currently involved in an SRI project in Nepal. I was wondering if
anyone is aware of any studies done on SRI to assess methane
generation from the rice fields? I have also come across some
literature that suggests that emissions of N2O increase by not
flooding the plots. For now I have simply assumed that baseline
methane generation will be completely reduced by SRI
techniques.
I would appreciate any
information.
