It was a very good thing that there was no attachment. There are a couple
of worms (viruses) running around the Internet right now, and what the
newsgroup is set to do is strip all attachments from messages coming into
it. By removing the attachments, the malware is taken out and doesn't have
a chance to make it to your computer through the group's messages.

It's annoying to be seeing those messages get even as far as they do...but
at least our computers are not infected by them!
