We've made some changes to the way the server handles the StormwaterPro
discussion group. These changes were made as a result of the increasing
number of spam messages that were making it through the server's spam
filters, as well as a few new "members" who were obviously more interested
in using their membership to send spam messages to those who joined for
information on stormwater management.
The group is now "moderated". This means that any message you send to
StormwaterPro will temporarily be held at the server until it can be
reviewed by one of the group's moderator team. The server will be checked
throughout the business day for new messages. Legitimate messages of
interest to the group will be sent through to all of our members. Spam
messages will not.
New membership applications will also be held at the server level until
approved by the moderator team. At least two of our newest "members" joined
specifically to send group members spam messages inviting people to view
pornography. They were the source of most of the porn spam messages we
received during the past week, and their memberships have been terminated.
We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience in using the
StormwaterPro discussion group as a result of these new policies. We feel
that the vast majority of our members prefer not to receive any more spam
messages than necessary, and decided that we needed to take these steps to
reduce the volume of spam hitting your e-mail inbox.
