WHAT IS WETLAND SIGHTS AND SOUNDS?
The Izaak Walton League of America is once again offering a unique opportunity
for you to experience wetlands through the Internet. Wetland Sights and Sounds
is a series of email newsletters to help you get ready for American Wetlands
Month in May. If you sign up now, you will receive one issue each week during
the month of April. This series of Wetlands Sights and Sounds will introduce you
to some of the ways individuals can promote wetland conservation in their own
backyards. In addition to protecting and restoring wetlands in your community,
you can also create wetland habitat on your property with vernal ponds and bog
gardens. These do-it-yourself landscaping projects not only beautify your lawn
and garden, they provide habitat for native wildlife, safeguard the water
quality of local waterways, and reduce the amount of stormwater runoff leaving
your property. Issues will include educational information, pictures, sound
cards, conservation project ideas, and links to other resources. You will also
receive access to archived copies of last year's Wetland Sights and Sounds
series on the economic benefits of wetlands to communities.
