Jackie,
I agree with Doug. You should advise them of your concerns and ask them to come
up with a solution that is acceptable for all. As soon as you make suggestions
such as a spill mat, insert, plug, etc.... if it should fail, the finger will
come back on you with a, "They told me to use it". It can very easily be turned
on you. Just a suggestion.

One option might be the use of an inlet insert such as a "Safe Drain".
These devices can be closed, protecting the drain in the event of a
spill. Or you could just use spill mats to protect the drains when
transporting chemicals.
