Strowger isn't dead...well, okay, Almon is dead, but his legacy is still alive; people who still have an interest in it are very thinly spread around the world which means that when someone is looking for something or some information it's hard to find other people with the same interests !
Join the Strowger discussion list and you can converse with other people interested in older telecomms technology. You can resign and re-join the list at any time.
The Home Page Photograph: Here is a lovely example of a UAX13 Exchange (Unit Automatic Exchange) that is in preservation, and can be seen today. This fully working UAX is at the Avoncroft Museum of Buildings, West Midlands, UK and resides in an authentic reconstructed/relocated telephone exchange building. UAX13 Exchanges are very sought after today and there are a few in private ownership. Some of these are connected via Broadband (VOIP) and CNET to provide a "Virtual Reality" network of preserved exchanges working together with original STD dialling codes.
