hi,
This is a quote that was posted on a discussion forum
"My firewall informed me that my computer was trying
to send a ICMP to all routers at the address below.
224.0.0.0 - 239.255.255.255
IANA
Internet Assigned Numbers Authority
4676 Admiralty Way, Suite 330
Marina del Rey, CA 90292-6695
US"
A reply was
Did it look something like this?
Blocking outgoing ICMP: src=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx,
dst=224.0.0.2, type 10. It's normal networking
activity and nothing to worry about. It won't hurt to
block it"
ICMP Type 10 is Router Solicitation.how ever the fire
wall log was that of a dial ip or DSL, computer only
needs to communicate through dial up or cable to his
isp.
we dont need a Router Solicitation frm his computer.it
only needs to be done frm the isp's router. is nt it
that way?
Regards Sarath.
