Opponents of electoral reform in British Columbia have claimed that if BC-STV
were implemented, all the MLAs in the rural districts would come from the
biggest town in the multi-member electoral district (= constituency = riding).
Some idea of what might really happen can be seen from what actually happens in
the rural electoral districts in Ireland which uses STV-PR to elect the TDs to
the Dáil Éireann.
Using data from the Tithe an Oireachtais website and from the websites of the
various political parties, Antony Hodgson has prepared a Google map showing the
distribution of the home addresses of the TDs in five of Ireland's more rural
electoral districts:

It seems clear that STV-PR gives representation of party AND of locality when
that is what the voters want.
