No rain in sight yet so I'm posting a flatwater trip instead.
Where?: Lake Yarrunga (2 drive south of Sydney in the Kangaroo Valley)
When?: 19-20th December
Why?: Excellent scenery and good swimming in FRESHWATER. Good camping spots.
The lake is apparently stocked with Bass and Trout so we'll se if we
can catch something.
Good chance to show off you cooking and brewing skills. If Fritz and
Tom comes along we'll have 3 eskys at our disposal! I still have a
case of Kozel at home.
Let me know if you are keen. I'm sure we'll be limited by roofracks.

If anyone is interested in a paddle this Friday evening, Catherine and
I will be heading out out from the boatshed at 7pm.
If there is interest I can bring down the BBQ and the esky and we can
have dinner and some drinks following the paddle.
Let me know if this sounds like a good plan for a friday night and you
would like to join us.

Dear Fellow paddlers,
Join us at Penrith Whitewater Stadium on the 13th of December (sunday)
for some grade 3 fun. If you're not up to grade 3 yet the club will be
hiring some 2 person funyaks (inflatable) so you can still enjoy some
good paddling without any experience. This will be a great
introduction to padlling if you would like to try it or if you would
like to improve your skills.
Cost $30 (entry fee) + petrol (the funyaks are free) - could be less
depending on the number of people.
Let me know if you're interested in attending.
(You have to be a member in order to use our boats and funyaks)

Hi all,
The club is planning a trip to Broughton Island this weekend. This is
a relatively easy 6km (each way trip) off the coast of Hawks Nest.
Excellent snorkeling, swimming and fishing on the way. Camping on one
of the island beaches. Guaranteed to catch a slapper for dinner.
At the moment I only have one car at my disposal so unless more people
with cars (and roofracks) show interest I can only take 3 additional
people.
Let me know if you are interested and whether you have a car.
Please note that although this is an easy paddling trip, we'll have to
paddle through the surf to get out and the swell could be quite big on
the open water.
Previous paddling experience and an ability to handle the boat
competently is a necessity.
Leaving early Sat morning

I have only got two takers for boat hire for the Hawkesbury:
Cat – mirage
Jade Kingsley – would like to borrow a double
Jade - this means you can borrow any of the other doubles that we have, other than the mirage. Just let me know which one you are taking so I can ensure it will be there/someone (Andrew/Jiri) can let you in to take it!
I have just found out that Jane Spring, president of the Sydney Women's Rowing Club, has been nominated for the Sydney University Senate.
Jane has been a great supporter of sucanoe, and would be a fantastic and enthusiastic addition to the Senate. I'd encourage you all to vote for her! I've attached her flyer and a personal endorsement from John Coates.
You should have recieved voting papers in the mail - if you have not you can contact contact Lis Bergmann, Executive Officer to Senate on
9351 5656. These papers need to be returned by 10th November.
I just went out for a couple of hrs paddling solo, and realized having a rudder would definitely make the paddle more enjoyable. I heard that Rich Barnes might have the club's T1? a single with a rudder? and was wondering if anyone knew of that kayak or if Rich does have the kayak if it would be possible to drop it at the Glebe boat shed? that is if you're not using it?
We have had some requests from people outside of the club to hire our boats for the Hawkesbury. I would obviously like to give preference to people in the club - so if you are planning to use one of the club boats please email me and tell me which one (or if you have not organised one, just that you would like to use one - and either a single or double).
I'll set up a spreadsheet and email to all that respond so you each know who is using what.
I think the rainy weather is easing off this wkend and was wondering if anyone was up for a long paddle up to Lane Cove Nat'l park or Manly beach, either Saturday or Sunday? need a bit of training before the hawkesbury classic...
I am wondering if I can ask you a favour....
I am running a 12km paddle event this Sunday from Roseville to Sailors
Bay Return...it is open to paddlers of all ages and experiences. The event
is a fundraiser for The Black Dog institute, more details are listed below..
I am an outrig with Purple Storm, Dragon
Boat with the Sloths and have seen your members paddling out of Blackwattle
Bay hence thought to extend this invite to you and your members...
Attached are all the details.... if
you are able to extend this out to your membership base I would greatly
appreciate it.
There are some prizes up for grabs and
a free tee for all entrants!
If you would like any further details
please let me know....
Thanks in advance!

Hi All
I was thinking about going to Broughton Island this weekend. This would
be dependant on weather/wind forecast.
It would be suitable for those who've paddled before, and are confident
enough to tackle the open sea.
It would be a 2 day outing driving up the 3-4 hours on Sat morning,
returning Sunday arvo/evening.
Let me know if you're interested.
Cheers
Chris

Hi. Can we please get the boatshed key from whoever has it for a thursday afternoon paddle? Please let me know when and where we can pick the key up. Dave & Nicole
I'll be organising a paddle on the harbour this coming Saturday. We will be meeting at the boatshed at 10am and paddling out to Cockatoo Island, having lunch and then paddling back again (about a 2 hour paddle each way).
This trip should be suitable for beginners, provided you have paddled in a kayak at least once before. Bring lunch to have on the island, a hat, and a change of clothes for when you get back. Cost is $15 to cover equipment hire, unless you are already a club member. Places will be limited to a group size of about 10 in total.
I've had a few people ask - I just want to let you know that you can attend just ONE night of canoe polo for $15. You can do this for up to three nights before you have to pay the full fee.
Get into it! :)

Hi all,
I just wanted to let you all know that if you sign up for canoe polo through sucanoe, as a club member - the entry fee could be reduced as much as 50%. This is dependent on the number of people who would like to join.
If you are interested please email me directly. In order to get the benefit you must not sign up directly. You must sign up through the club. I'll be organising a group payment later this week.
If you are even thinking about it - come along! I've never played before either, and it sounds like an absolute blast :) For those lucky individuals who are not on the other 20 spam lists - I've copied the details below.
