I have a 1982 VW Rabbit Pickup, with turbodiesel engine and 5-speed
transmission from a 1991 Jetta, that I'm selling. I'd love to see it
continue with someone who will run biodiesel or veg through it. I
love this truck, but it just won't suit my needs anymore.
The engine has just over 80,000 miles on a rebuild. I still have the
notes I took talking with the person who rebuilt it. This is a classic
and a project.
The front suspension, drive shafts, clutch, and washer fluid reservoir
are the primary work needs. The clutch feels like it's about gone and
slips at certain speeds (gear number times ten for the speed).
I have the jack. The title is a NC-rebuilt. The right part of the
rear bumper was pushed inward slightly in a wreck before I bought it.
I changed the return lines on the injectors, the return line on the
injection pump and the injection pump supply line to viton for
biodiesel. The fuel line that supplies to the fuel filter needs
replacement very soon though, as the biodiesel has started to wear
through (I couldn't get the camera to focus on the wear spot due to
its location). I have the hose needed.
The truck has a new starter (spring '08), newly-rebuilt fuel injection
pump (replaced spring '08), new brake servo and master cylinder
(replaced spring '07), one new fuel injection pipe with a spare set of
used injection pipes and new glow plugs (spring '08). The spacer that
fits around the pushrod for the servo is not on because it was too
long. Been meaning to take a hacksaw to it to fit it in. A few
panels are primer and the rest is painted.
The AC compressor doesn't hold a charge. I have another compressor
that came with the truck when I bought it. The seller said it would
work but I haven't tried it out. I also have a spare rack and pinion.
The truck has original vinyl seats, but I also have an additional set
of cloth seats that are more comfortable. It has a Jetta steering
wheel. The original radio is in, but doesn't work.
There's a few rust spots in the bed, but nothing major. The strut
towers are completely rust-free. I bought the truck in the Raleigh,
NC, area in early 2007.
Everyone tells me its the peppiest diesel they've ever driven and that
it has a good engine. It gets 35 to 40 mpg, which could easily be
improved with some repairs. These trucks regularly get 40 to 50 mpg.
I love this truck and hate to let it go. I would make the repairs,
but this truck no longer suits my needs.
I've only used Rotella oil, making sure to change the oil every 3,000
miles or every 3 months, whichever has come first. The tag and
insurance are current. It's run on 50% biodiesel for almost 2,000
miles with a new fuel filter and no mishap.
If you would like to see the truck, contact me and we can set up a
time. I also have about seven gallons of biodiesel I can send you
with and cleaner for the re-useable air filter.
I have a bunch of pictures I can send too, if you like.
Yes I've been making bio-d for about three years now. My own
prosessor and have over 150,000 miles on it with no problems. I have
a GMC 6.2 and a 300D Mercedes. My only problem is getting wvo, only
one of my sources still give it to me. I started with five sources
and the other four want paid for it. I still have around 700 gallons
saved up so won't be paying for any soon.

If you are a KSAP "policy-maker" member, let me know whom from your govt/agency/utility/etc will be presenting their updates since the last KSAP meeting.
If you are not sure if your group is presenting, please check the attached agenda. Know when and for how long your presenter will be speaking.
Lastly, bring an estimate of how much diesel fuel you use a year, both regular street diesel and off-road-red-die diesel (boats, generators, construction eqmt).
Note that the Policy Maker updates are in the morning, followed by lunch, then the biodiesel summit. You may rsvp for one, two or all three.
This is so that fleet managers and city managers can carve time out for just what is most relevant to their duties.
Please forward this on to anyone you know who uses diesel.
Noon$12.50 Buffet at FKCC.RSVP by 9am Wednesday for lunch.
(Includes assorted sandwiches, individual bags of chips, watermelon & cantaloupe fruit spread, cookies and brownies dessert spread, iced tea, lemonade, and water (plus all utensils and fixings).

I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan and am getting approximately 18MPG. The cost of gas is killing me and I was thinking of trading in for a hybrid or something. Only problem is I cannot find a fuel efficient car that will fit My husband, myself, our two kids and my wheelchair. The Caravan is paid off. Fits everyone needed and then some. Is it possible to convert my van to an FFV to run on E85 or convert it to run on Biodiesel? What are the risks of conversion? I'm not under warranty anyway, but I also don't want to break down on the road somewhere because the new fuel has corroded my engine or something. Can you help me out by telling me a little bit more about this?
I work out in Lakeland. What info are you looking for?

I'm in Mulberry, west of town on Hwy.60.In the process of buying a
Bio150 unit from Utah biodiesel.
Just starting out myself.Bought the automated rig for 2 reasons.
It's idiot proof(lol),and it needs no babysitting.
Produces 40 gallons per 48 hour run time.

I am looking for a 75 second Normally open 12 volt

OR what are you using for a delay in the Diesel/WVO
switchover?

Hi,
I'm new to Bio-diesel and I live in the S.Lakeland area. Are there any
Co-ops in the area? I would like to talk to anybody in this area that
is either making bio-diesel or using WVO. I would greatly appreciate
your response.
Joe
Just joined the group this morning and lookin' forward to learning
more about producing biofuel. I'm also interested in starting a
biodiesel refinery operation here in Florida. Looking at some of the
past messages on the forum, I can see that I'm not the only one. If
you folks don't mind me coming on-board this late in the game, I'd
love to lend a hand in the form of knowledge, experience, and
contacts (all of these on the business side, I don't actually have
much experience with biofuel).
I'll keep checking the forum as often as possible in case you set up
a meeting. In the meantime, if anyone has already written up a
business plan or prospectus, I'd love to take a look so I can see
where you're at. If not, I can start working on that once I learn a
bit more about the group, its members, and its resources. Thanks!

anything you learn please post and I will do the same.

Hey, this is a old post, are you still in Jax and are you still
interested in biodiesel? I am in Yulee and looking to start a co-op.

I had one volunteer who was going to bring a processor on a trailer for Earth Day for this coming Sunday, but a weird happening caused him to cancel. If there are others who are still interested and can come up with some ideas on what can be used for a demo/display please let me know.

1985 300D VERY CLEAN good paint 180,000 miles everything works, only
one small rust spot on underbody, AC blows cold, excellent interior,
This car been running on biodiesel and veggie oil (or blended with
petro diesel) for several years and it has been the most reliable
vehicle I have ever owned.
Due to family changes, my daughter returned to me another vehicle I
owned that she was using while I drove the Mercedes, so now I have to
sell one of them. I hate to part with the Mercedes but I have no
choice as I don't have room for all of them in the garage and it
would break my heart to leave the Mercedes outside to get rusty.
Asking $4500
This car has been on display at Earth day for our co-op the last
couple of years.
I have not listed it yet, I am offering it around biodiesel co-op
for a few days and then will list it
Anyway, if interested you can call me at work

good time to get to meet each other and discuss a coop, etc. I
drive a brown Jeep Liberty (diesel of course) with bike rack on the
spare tire. I park in the lot on the west side of North Blvd. and
immediately north of Sligh Ave. However you can also enter the
Main Entrance parking lot right off Sligh Ave and drive close to the
bandshell as well. If this day and time is not good then some time
next week after 5PM would be a good alternative.
