I want to run Suse with X and enlightenment but I
don't like the kde or gnome interfaces and was
wondering how I could start X with only the enlightment
running. I can use it to start the applications but I feel
having 3 different places to start an application is
ridiculous. Anyone know how? Thanks.
Hi<br>As far as i know, Enlightenment is an
add-on for Gnome, so you'll have to install Gnome if you
want E. I have seen some screenshots of
KDE+Enlightenment, but i dont know how to do it yet. <br>Look for
some information here, it may
help.<br><a href=http://e.themes.org

Actually, I just bought a linux journal and found
an article that shows how to do it. It is in one of
the etc files. I don't have the article here with me
at work, if you want it, email me.<br><br>Lyrabas
I keep getting error messages when I try to
access the serial ports after upgrading from
6.2->6.3. Don't know if this is a SuSE specific problem,
but it was working fine before.<br>I can't get to the
modem or the x10 firecraker devices on my Com
Ports.<br>The error I've been getting is:<br>Error 5 on ioctl
in x10_br_out<br>ioctl: input/output error<br><br>I
get this whether serial is compiled into the kernel
statically or as a module, I've checked the bios, setserial
reports the proper io and interrupt
information.<br><br>Any ideas?

I have used SuSE6.1 for roughly a year now.. and
i thought of updating it.. so i went out and bought
TurboLinux 6.0 Workstation.. I was just wondering if it is
entirely possible to update my current SuSE6.1 with
TurboLinux6.0 Any help will be apperciated. And i am not too
keen on the idea of having to do a clean installation
with TurboLinux6 since i perfer SuSE's configurations
and ease of use.<br><br>miyomoto
Hey there: I had the same problem. Get the
XCOM_Rage server from suse web site and follow the
instructions there. My uneducated thought is that (if you have
an AGP card) the auto detect is not seeing it
correctly. Once you set up the XCOM_Rage server you
shouldn't have any problems configuring X with
SAX.<br><br>Maybe some of the more technical savy can shed some
light on to this issue.<br><br>Good Luck
I have Jsentry as a proxy server. All the
components except POP3 are activated. I suspect that
something else is using port 110. When I had Red Hat
installed on the server, I did not have this problem. Does
anyone have a suggestion as to what SuSE has or has not
done that would be causing my problem. I currently
only have the basic SuSE packages
installed<br><br>Roger
I found that by running the inetd service, port
110 was being used. Either by electing not to run the
service or commenting the pop3 line in the inetd.conf
file port 110 becomes available again. That solved my
problem.<br><br>Roger
Hello Friends,<br>I have a problem, i hope u will
do your best to solve it.<br><br>I have SuSE Linux
6.0 installed and now want to install Sybase, I don't
know the right steps to install sybase on linux, How
can I ?<br><br><br>Thanx
I'm running Suse 6.3 and most of it seems to work fine except that Yast2 doesn't
want to know that i've got a modem. I tried all 4 different ports but without
any luck. What am I doing wrong?
I have just recently went o CompUSA when they had
a sale. I got 6.3 for 15 dollars, and figured I
would give it a try. I have tried Read Hat5.2, Caldera
2.2, and 6.3, and out of them all, SuSE is the best.
It's fast, and very reliable. It would be an excellant
choice to make!!!
What kind of modem is it do you know?<br><br>most
built ins will only work in windows, and a lot of the
pci one are the same, best i can tell you is try to
get hold of and old 14.4 modem or so you can these
real cheap a couple of dollars and try that one it
should be ISA and have jumpers on it if that one does
not work then you have a port conflict you can also
try to play with BIOS settings mostly the PNP stuff.
I need some help setting up remote printing. I
had no problems using printtool when I used Red Hat,
but the apsfilter in SuSE is giving me difficulty.
When I send a job from the client to the host with the
printer, I see three files created in the queue. In the
queue for that printer on the host, there is one of
those same files. That's as far as it goes. Please help
if you can.<br><br>Roger
Hello!<br><br>I'd like to know if I'm acting in
the right way, to configure the keymap of my
computer. I use the following procedure:<br><br>1) run
"YaST" as superuser<br>2) go in "Adjustments of
installation"<br>3) go in "select keymap", make my choice
...<br><br>My problem is that this procedure seems NOT working
at all, i.e. at the end, whichever keymap I select,
the actual keymap result unchanged! <br><br>I have
Suse 5.3, Yast is Version 0.97<br><br>Thanks in
advance for your help.<br><br>Greetings,<br>Marco
