Join Ted Farrell, to hear about and discuss the current state
of Java development tools and what's in store for the future of
Java and J2EE development.
This talk will highlight the current-day advancements in
Java IDEs and then go on to talk about J2EE Frameworks
and how they will be the means in which applications are
built in years to come.
About Speaker:
Ted Farrell is Architect and Director of Strategy for
Application Development Tools at Oracle Corporation.
Ted is responsible for the technical and strategic direction
of Oracle?s development tools products, including Oracle9i
JDeveloper, Oracle?s Java and XML Integrated Development
Environment (IDE) for J2EE application and Web services development.
This responsibility includes aligning various development
technologies with a vision that allows Oracle to become
a leader in J2EE development.
Prior to Joining Oracle, Ted was Chief Technology Officer
at WebGain, an application development tools solutions provider.
While at WebGain, Ted was responsible for the technical vision
and acquisition strategy that included the purchase and
incorporation of multiple software companies? products
and technologies into a single environment. Ted also
conceived and designed WebGain?s patent-pending BusinessDesigner,
a product designed to capture and track business
requirements for applications.
During his more than 15 years of experience architecting
and building software products and companies, Ted co-founded
several small-business software companies including
Night Owl Enterprises, Novasoft Systems Inc. and Tendril Software.
While at Tendril Software, Ted invented, architected
and led the development team that built the patented
StructureBuilder, a Java-based UML product in which the UML model
and the Java source code are continually synchronized.
Ted began his technology career as a Senior Software Engineer
at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC).
