Announcing our latest video--Great Java If you're learning something new, doesn't it make sense to learn how to do it "well"? Great learning from O'Reilly helps you do just that: from start to finish, we teach you tried and true methods for every topic we cover, from Java programming to HTML coding, and more. And, rather than just sitting and watching, you learn by "doing," in real time. It's as if you're sitting next to a good friend (and programming expert) as he shares what he knows and you follow along, step-by-step. It's simply a great way to learn.
Throughout the course, you'll progressively learn to code and compile programs, work extensively with text, and declare, convert, and cast between data types. You'll also read files, get user input, and build arrays, including multi-dimensional arrays. Finally, you'll move into objects, modeling your data and behavior into core Java structures.
Great Java: Level 1 will teach you the fundamentals of Java, from the basics of compilation through methods, objects, and the key concepts of good programming. By the time you're through these lessons, you'll be programming, and programming well. http://post.oreilly.com/rd/9z1zdd2kc55v4g7mqqr2jmp9co5qku80dklmf42rdh0

As many of you know, I have subscribed to the O'Reilly books online service - Safari - ever since its inception. I consider the resource to be a vital tool for my professional work. Essentially for a flat annual fee, I have online access to the full set of O'Reilly technical books, via a web browser. Besides viewing the books online, I am allowed, via a monthly token allocation system, to download and print PDF versions, on a chapter by chapter basis. Finally, should I decide that a physical copy of a book would be useful, I received a discount.
In truth, I use the service almost exclusively online, neither printing or purchasing a physical copy. By nature, whenever I developing, I have Internet access, so the online library is always there.
O'Reilly has recently improved the service with a nicer, cleaner interface. To introduce people to the newly redecorated service, a ten day free trial is being offered. The details are given below, in an announcement sent to us by Marsee Henon.

No experience with themacsale.com but did download a half dozen apps free recently from Macheist, which seems very consumer friendly (developer friendly too?).
I just came across The Mac Sale site. (themacsale.com). It offers 10 Mac apps for $49.99 and is similar to Macheist. Has anyone had any experience with using this site, (i.e., is it for real?) Dan
