Who's running this list? It might be a good idea to change the configuration to
new users are moderated. Then just reconfigure a new users /as soon/ as they
post a group-related message.

I do this on the other lists I run and it works to keep out the spam. It's only
slightly tedious to watch for the 'first post' moderation messages for new
users.
