[ excerpt: Radical Math Teacher guidelines ]
The logo you might want to adopt for this Radical Math is
a backwards 'R' under the radical sign, which means "root of"
or "root". You may say the R stands for "root" whereas
its being backwards suggests it's radical, a kind of visual pun.
The pun goes deeper in that a backwards R resonates with
Russian, which has the Cyrillic version (ya). When imitating
or alluding to, suggesting, a past Cold War rivalry, a lot
of merchandise goes for that Russian chachka look, likewise
with the Chinese. The old commie stuff has become "cute"
in a self spoofy kind of way, which is an attitude we don't
mind perpetuating.

Furthermore, the new so-called "second world" has led the way
in rendering the old "first, second, third..." world schema
somewhat meaningless. We've got Second Life and the whole
sense of cyberspace as a 2nd world or shadow existence, with
or without avatars.
So the Radical Math symbol also connotes possible allegiances to
cyber-nations or virtual nations. These call into question our
more literal beliefs in "hard" sovereignties depicted on older
world maps and globes, or on Google Earth with "political
boundaries" turned on (a check box). They call them into question
simply by proliferating, doing a lot of the same work, and by
seeming more like the old corporations in terms of how they
deploy branding, offices, physical assets.
Cyber-nations do not require vast contiguous land areas to seem
"real" to their citizens.
