hi i want to trigger a adrs with a stepcounter
every thing works fine in synthedit .but i tried it in buzz psycle
and orion pro demo
the first time i play the sequence the adsrs are not triggered the
right way

after that every thing works well even if you repeat the loop :)
i use the adsr for triggering a filter and added a multiply input 1
to MIDI TO CV gate and input 2 to stepcounter and output multiply to
adsr
i did that for every step becourse i use a lot of differnt sequencers
like 16 16 back pingpong 12 8 6 4 3 ect.

hope you understand :)
sorry for the english again

Odo.

I've asked for a bypassable oscillator &, while AF's Osc sounds
great, I find a lot of second party made modules just eat CPU.
Perhaps Jeff could make this a built in feature in the next version
of SE. My second wish would be an oscillator that you could load a
looping waveform to modulate the pulsewidth. :-) James

I can't rememeber who posted this file, & can't find the thread
using search, but I just wanted you to know that I hooked it up to
the synth I'm working on last night & it works great. Very little
CPU also. Now I need to see if I can hook up a bypass switch for
just single note on. Cheers to you- James

I don't know it will help but try to delay a BIT of the trigger.
Try place a feedback delay into the trigger line, this will intruduce ~ 1 ms
delay between when you hit the start
button (in OPro) and the actual trigger. this might be just enough to "fool"
the thing.

One other possibility is that the zero time-point of your trigger signal is
high;
or it starts with a negative slope (?). Then, you miss the first gate ....

I mean it MUST start from 0 and then 1-0-1-0-1 ....
if it is like 1-0-1-0-1-0-1....
thats bad news (but easy to correct.......... :-)

On this note: Would y'all be interested in a SoundFont (or .wav files) of
the raw oscillators from the Korg MS-10 and MS-20? I'm currently borrowing
both these synths, so it would be pretty easy to steal the waveforms. (I
can only go to 24-bit/44.1KHz with my setup, keep in mind.) You wouldn't
get the cool filters of course, but it would be better than nothing.

Also:

>AF_OSC is all you need. Wait for the next beta, and yes it has noise
>with colour, no aliasing, multiple waveforms, bypass...

A quick question about the noise coloration...

I know that in the real world, white, pink, and "violet" noise (this last
might also be called "blue" noise if I remember correctly) is all done by
filtering white noise. But, in THEORY, the difference is in the
relationship between volume and frequency:
White = linear
Pink = logarithmic
Violet = exponential
(I may have gotten this wrong - it's been a while since I've taken a math
class.)

Is this the way the osc is going to do the different waveforms? Or is it
just random noise with a hard-coded filter algo in it?

I'm just curious, really...

I've always wondered why people don't simply make the noise osc as an
entirely seperate beast. Most people use it on its own anyway, and I'm
guessing it would probably save some headaches to seperate it from the other
waveforms.

And more:

> > I'd also need noise as a waveshape and
> > while on the subject it would be neat with an osc that had a noise
> > color setting.

>If you want controllable noise, why not try Sample & Hold?

To do that sort of coloration, you would need to set the S&H depth to be in
the audio range... which raises its own problems, and still wouldn't sound
quite right. It is what the original poster suggested, but it probably
wouldn't work too well in my opinion.

I've done lots of stuff where noise modulates various things (VCA, osc
pitch, etc) and the most effective thing I've found is to put a low-pass
filter after the osc, with no resonance. (You'd need to bypass the filter
when switching to another waveform of course.)

Just my 2cents.

HI IK
don`t think it will work :(
i get a very long adsr decay when i play a track
i have no problems when i only hit a key
maybe thats why it works in synthedit ;)
but can i sent you the file so you can look at it ? it`s a very big
mess :)
i don`t know if you use orion or psycle buzz
if you want to hear this you have to wait a few sec every time you
hit play

thank Marc

I'm not sure I understand your idea, You need a modulating waveform
from a wave file ?
Why not use the waveplayer to modulate the PW?

hi odo,
sure, i can take a look, if you wish ...
big mess? you can jut build a very simple model to sort out the problem,
then apply
the solution to the real thing. i do this very often.

hi group!

whatīs the right way to prevent controls from being automatable?

lets say i got 200 sliders but only want the automation for 50 of them.
when i check "ignore program change" they wont be listed in my hostīs
automation window. but then the positions arenīt remembered for patches!

thats my problem - hope someone can help :)

ic you don't know, this cannot be prevented in some hosts.. eg. logic
apprehends all the gui components and applies it's own cc# assigns, so
effectively impossible as such.. i think a few other hosts are 'grabby' like
this.

Ugo,

Controllers 32-63 are actually used to provide fine control (the LSB)
for controllers 0-31. Hence SynthEdit sends them out as a pair.

This is how the midi standard is defined, but actually most synths (hard
or soft) don't use the MSB/LSB combination, so it ends up that 32-63 are
useless.

Jeff - any chance synthedit could have an option to switch this behavior
off so we can use 32-63 as independant controllers?

cheers,
Rory

So, does it depend on which modules are used?

Hi,

I want to mix a chorus effect with a dry signal but wend i mix the
two together the sound become to lound. I know there is a way to turn
a knob to add the FX and that the dry volume got lower at the same
time but i don't know how to do it. I tryed X-mix but the FX got
additioned to the dry level and got to lound. someone can help?

Thank you

I don't think that you should use Ignore program change. Wend you
look at the knob propeties or container automation use "None" for the
control so don't use "11-expression"

Had the same issue with my reverb sim. Made a container
with two level adj's one being value inverted and both
controlled from the same 'mix' knob, so when one go up
the other go down. Maybe this help!

Etric
