I found the answer here:
http://tealpoint.com/cgi-bin/FAQ/faq.cgi/browse/TealLock. I deinstaled TeaLLock,
deleted orphaned prefs then reinstalled Teallock. AutoHide now works.

Hello, I'm new to this group. I've had Teallock on my Centro for a while now.
In the past,I've mainly used autolock. I'm now trying automatic hide/mask of
private records but it does not seem to be working. Regardless of the setting,
Teallock does not seem to keep private records marked as MASK.
I have the following settings:
- btwn 12:00Am to 11:59PM
- 0 mins after power off
- 0 mins after last activity
- if powered up between 12:00AM and 11:59PM
- on reset
If I understand correctly, with the above settingd, any Palm record
marked as private should eventually end up MASKed.
Help on how this feature works is greatly appreciated !
That is very good news. Your mileage tracking, maintenance log, and trip log
are
invaluable for me. It is awesome that at tax time all I have to do is print a
report.
Would it be possible to something similar to what Chapura Pocket Mirror does to
sync?
That is what I use to sync my Pre with MS Outlook. From their website:
"How it Works
PocketMirror Standard provides wireless synchronization over your local area
Wi-Fi
network. The synchronization and data transfers are made only over the local
network,
Calendar and Contact information is never passed over the internet. The PC and
Pre must
be connected to the same Wi-Fi network and Wi-Fi is required to use this
product."
I'll be checking out your other products...and feel free to contact me if you
need any beta testers.

From the overwhelming response, I think a version of TealAuto is a strong
possibility for the next app we'll do. Off the top of my head I think we'd do
the full version right away, as there aren't too many apps in the App Store yet,
so visibility is not a problem.
I'm not sure about how we'd handle synching, or if we'd have to add it in an

The only thing holding us up right now from fully moving on to the next project
is getting our existing apps approved. Palm is apparently very backlogged right
now but is working hard to clear the log jam, probably to coincide with the
release of the Palm Pixi. There must be a lot of apps about to go into the
store.
The version of TealShopper in the store was an initial version we had to write
months ago using only the simulator. Even though we submitted a new version
soon after with lots of improvements and fixes to all reported bugs, we're still
waiting for it to make it into the store. If any of you have the older version
and know how to install apps through developer mode, contact us directly and we
can send you an ipk with the patched files. Also please consider helping us out

We also have a new app TealTime, that we've submitted and are waiting a
response. We added a page on our site today, so check it out at

I agree with what cash1970 said. Check out the precentral.net website. actually
that's how I found your first app and this group page.
I'm very interested in the Teal Auto app especially for maintenance tracking.
There's nothing in the Palm catalog currently that could do this.
I know many developers use the homebrew scene at Precentral to "preview" a lite
version of their apps. Many users seem to like this aspect of homebrew.
If your still looking for beta testers let me know, i'd be willing to help out.

TealShopper 1.0.3 is now for sale on the Palm App Store. A quick fix for long
lists (1.0.4) has been submitted and should soon be up. I don't know why the
screenshots are missing, but we'll try to get Palm to fix this.
A number of you have commented on the lack of info about TealShopper on the web
site. I apologize. We've been concentrating on development first, and hope to
at least add a TealShopper page to the web site soon.
Lastly, that for those of you who have sent us your thoughts and support
regarding pricing of webOS apps. I thought you might be interested in a recent
Newsweek article detailing the recent souring of developer experiences with the
iTunes App Store.
http://www.newsweek.com/id/216788
In summary, it's not that the store itself is doing poorly, but that the flood
of new (and mostly cheap or free) apps at the store--due largely to over-hyping
by the press and Apple--have made it now a very challenging environment for
developers. It seems that even many developers that were celebrated as early
successes on that platform are now struggling to stay profitable.
Hopefully, Palm will avoid the "more and cheaper is better" mentality when
managing their own store, and will limit the forces that will drive app prices
down and the numbers up too fast.

Good news!
Palm just approved TealShopper, our shopping/errand/task manager app for webOS
for sale on their Palm store. Hopefully it will appear in the catalog shortly!
It seems like Palm has really worked hard to make submission process friendly to
developers, and because of this, our current plan is to develop more webOS apps.
With this announcement, I thought I'd share some thoughts about our future
development roadmap, since we've been getting many emails about us adding
support for webOS, iPhone, Blackberry, and other new platforms.
Here is a summary of our thoughts:
webOS
Palm charges $99 per year plus $50 per app to develop for webOS. The fees are
actually a good thing for commercial developers like us, as they help control
the flood of "hobbyist" apps that have inundated the iPhone store.
In addition, Palm has created tools to develop for webOS under Linux, Mac, or
(our preference) Windows, and uses standard technologies/languages (Javascript,
CSS, HTML).
The real plus for us, however, is the refreshingly fair way Palm has set up the
approval process. There is a clear list of criteria you must meet when
submitting an app to Palm. When an app is rejected, Palm gives a clear report
of issues found, the ability to resubmit after making necessary changes, and the
presumption that an app will be accepted once all the issues are resolved. Best
of all, however, is the speed of the process, which so far for us has taken
anywhere from a single day to two weeks to get feedback on a submitted changes.
All these factors make webOS our current platform of choice. We'll see how
Palm's policies actually translate into sales, however. We're almost done with
TealTime, and will likely start TealAuto for webOS next.
iPhone
Despite Apple's mammoth marketing muscle, the iPhone market, we understand, can
be a challenging place to sell apps. Apple uses a proprietary language for
development (obj-c) and require Macs for development, and seems to have actively
destroyed any efforts by others to create third party development tools that run
on other platforms.
The real problem, however, is the marketplace itself. The store seems to have
become overrun recently by cheap throwaway apps. While a few apps sell
extremely well, many other quality ones get lost in the growing sea of apps,
reportedly only earning a few hundred dollars. As a result, we understand
developers are now resorting to "gaming" the store, releasing trivial updates to
keep on the "what's new" list. This process seems oddly reminiscent of the
PalmOS market in later years, and we expect the situation to get worse as more
and more apps compete for shrinking slices of the iPhone app software market.
Another roadblock, however, is Apple's anti-developer policies. Apple reserves
the right to reject apps for any reason, or no stated reason or response at all,
and seems to do this quite often. Even worse, they take a long time to respond;
six months, reported one former PalmOS developer. Since developers cannot
guarantee they will even be allowed to sell their apps at all, many are
understandably reluctant to put a lot of effort into developing a complex app.
Because of the high cost of entry, the stiff competition (for eyeballs), and the
potential of not being able to see any return on investment, we are holding off
developing for iPhone for now.
Blackberry
Blackberry devices run Java applets. We aren't Java programmers, which is a
significant barrier. It can also be a lot of work to create an attractive
interface in Java.
Symbian
As we understand, Symbian is a low level operating system for phone makers, but
the interface that third party apps use varies greatly from model to model
device. Because of this, apps usually need to be written specifically for each
model device. It would be very hard for us to do this cost effectively except
for the simplest of apps.
Android
We're not sure about Android. We have some concerns that its Open Source
origins might lead to a lot of free open source apps that will "poison" the
market for future commercial apps. We're also not sure if Android's "geek"
appeal might lead to a largely techie customer base that might be more likely to
hack or roll their own apps instead of purchasing them. Still, it's hard to bet
against Google, and Verizon seems to be getting behind the platform as well.
We'll probably take a second look at Android in the future once we see what
happens with webOS.
PalmOS and Windows Mobile
We'll continue to support our PalmOS and Windows Mobile apps, fixing bugs and
resolving issues where necessary, but new apps for these platforms will be
unlikely for the near future, except for quick ports of TICL-based apps
(TealDoc, TealPaint, etc) to Windows Mobile if there is sufficient interest.
thanks,

After some recent server problems, we're moving internet providers today, so
email and the web site are intermittent until the DNS servers map over to the

I was wondering where I might be able to find source code for tealweb I am
interested in getting it to be fully functional. I dont have alot of exp in

They're all set the same, "Encrypt and password protect" is ticked for all
stores.

None have local passwords, but a global password is set.

I don't see this making a difference. I open all of them at least once a
week, and this has been ongoing for a while.

OK.

I'm playing with it at this stage. Not using it on a regular basis. Though
I've been playing with it just now to test this encryption thing. I've tried

AES-128 is set there also, a global password is set, and no local passwords.
For each store, encrypt and password protect is also ticked.

That makes sense, but a Global password is indeed set on both the desktop
AND palm.
Odd, just odd.

Check the data stores details for those properties to make sure the encryption
option is enabled for them, as encryption can be turned off a data-store by data
store basis.
Also check to see if they have a local password set. If you don't have a global
password set, then individual data stores must have a local password enabled.
If both the encrypt option and password are enabled, opening the data store and
then closing and exitting the program should force them to re-encrypt.
The "L2", "L3", "R1" and "R2" versions of files are the local and "remote"
versions of the files. They're saved copies of the databases used when synching
to detect when changes are made either on the local device or the remote
(desktop) device that you're syncing with.
That brings up another possibility... if you're synching with the desktop, make
sure you have the same encryption options and passwords set on the desktop. If
you don't have a passwords set on the desktop, then it won't encrypt databases
there and it might sync these unencrypted copies onto the handheld.

It's still our our list, but we're currently learning webOS development, and
hope to get an simple product together by the time (or soon after) the Palm App
Store comes out of beta (though we don't know when this would be).
So in the meantime, most non-essential work on TealWheel and other PalmOS apps
is delayed so that we can put most of our time into webOS.

Beta 1.59 mistakenly had some debug code disabling the icons for some testing we
were doing. 1.60 is correct.

Ok, so I use one of my wheels (B) for Internet bookmarks/favorites. When I'm in
a program (whichever one) I go to Wheel B and move the wheel to select the web
site I want to go to. It displays the names/functions for each spoke of the
wheel. Once I am in Blazer, however, when I access the wheels, the
names/functions no longer show up. Does anyone else have this problem? (I have
a 755p.)
I saw this in version 1.58 a few days ago and when I upgraded the next time
(yesterday) to v.160 I saw (and continue to see) the same thing. Actually, my
phone crashed twice last night.
To sum it up, when I go from program to program, using TW, it ALWAYS shows the
names/functions. When I go from a web site/address to web site/address WITHIN
BLAZER, using TW, it NEVER shows the names/functions.
Has anyone else experienced this problem with TW 1.59?

Hi Tex: I remember a few weeks back where we were discussing the possibility of
adding a graphic underneath the Wheel to help eliminate the clutter. (I

After a bit of curious fiddling, I've opened some of my TealSafe databases,
and noticed that none of the data is actually encrypted. All text is open for
viewing by any binary editor.
Further investigation shows that these databases are "old", and the new ones
are indeed encrypted.
The question I have, is, aside from manually deleting old databases that are
not encrypted (but still certainly contain critical data), is there a way to
NOT save old ones in the first place?
My databases appear to be named: (with a different number for each)
TealSafeData_1234567890.PDB
TealSafeData_1234567890_L2.PDB
TealSafeData_1234567890_L3.PDB
TealSafeData_1234567890_R1.PDB
TealSafeData_1234567890_R2.PDB
In my case, only the first is not encrypted, but why is that? I'm quite
sure I started with an encryption setup from the get go, so all *should* have
been encrypted in the first place.
What does each mean, what is the latest, and why are they all stockpiled
instead of removed as the database is updated/changed whatever?
Most importantly, can I safely remove the first non-encrypted one from my
Palm without breaking anything?
Even aside from all that, if they are backups, then why don't I have any
control over what happens to them, instead of leaving copies lying around
taking up space at the very least...

Hi,
Just installed 1.59 over 1.58, but for some reason,
Icons appear solid black when TW is activated.
The programs are properly activated, but I have to
rely only name displayed instead of Icons.
Tried to reinstall couple of times, but same results.
On other note, would it be possible to delete programs
in the expansion card right after being quitting it?
I realize that TW copies program from card to run it in
main memory, then it remains there until another program
is activated from TW, but it does not always work... So
it ends up keeping another copy in main memory very often...
I would really appreciate it if this option is considered.
Thank you!
I'm trying to find SOMETHING that will display the anniversary date from the
contact db on my Treo 680 - that is besides Agendus.
I have TealPhone which will allow my to search the anniversary field and even
export it, but not with the anniversary date.
The Treo calendar with show birth dates but not anniversaries.
I used to have Agendus installed for years and that displayed anniversary info
in the calendar just great. Agendus made my Treo too unstable, since removing
it I've not had a crash in a year.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve
Hi,
one of the most heavily used programs on my Palm is TealDoc.
I love it - except for one tiny detail which even so sometimes annoys me
enormously:
for navigating through large documents, I use the 5-way nav.
Occasionally my fingertip slips and hits the center button.
This brings up the dialogue (translated from the German version) "Save changes?
- Save/Cancel".
This dialogue ONLY lets me choose between quitting with save and quitting
without save, and that's EXTREMELY frustrating when I'm editing a large document
on my SD card which can easily take 20 seconds or more to save.
Is there any chance of a THIRD button "Abort" in that dialogue which simply
closes the dialogue box, leaving the document open?
Kind Regards,
Jochen
Excuse me if this has been discussed on this board. Does Tealpoint have any
plans to make software versions for Palm Pre? Will software like TealAuto and
TealTrak work on the classic emulator on the Palm Pre?
Hi everybody,
I still have the dream to launch every app by name. Secondly I would love to
enter a search string for Google, Amazon, Wikipedia etc. in TW before starting
the browser. I have a similar vision for both, but we need to walk a fine line
to don't make look like UniversalSearch.
I have been talking about the QuickAppFind a couple of times, this is how I
would implement it:
When the user starts typing a panel with the matches opens. The panel is the
same as the one for the wheel selector from the hub. The top line are the
characters typed (w/ a fixed underscore as a cursor), below are the matches,
with the top match highlighted by default. Starting the app by tap on the line
or RETURN for the selected. The height of the panel depend on #matches, at most
it is 8 lines total. For simplicity, the matches are shown without icons (we
could small ones later, but not important). The matches are choosen from all
items in the app list (I just have too many to put them all on wheels), or on
wheels (if we add more invisible wheels).
QuickWebFind goes somewhat similar to how Opera does it, e.g.:
'g text1' would search text1 on Google, 'w text2' would search text2 on
Wikipedia.
It starts out similar to QuickAppFind, you type one character (e.g. 'g' and the
apps starting with 'g' appear as a list) but if this first character is followed
by a SPACE, the mode is switched: the panel becomes 2 lines, the first reads the
name of the search site (e.g. 'Google:'), the second is the search string with
an underscore as a cursor. When the user hits RETURN or taps on the panel, the
search starts, if he taps elsewhere or more than fully deletes the searchstring,
the search ends.
The search engines uses can be configured by the user on a new config page, for
each engine there are 3 fields:
- the indentifying char ('g')
- the Name of the search engine to be displayed in the panel (e.g. 'Google')
- the website to be launched (e.g. 'http://www.google.com/search?q=##find', with
##find being the placeholder for the search string.
What do you to think?

Hi everybody,
similar to fanofdatreo, I would like to do most of the thing related to app
starting in TW. So I started to put all the apps I have (>100) on wheels, sorted
in groups as in a regular launcher. Even though I can leave out a few apps,
first of all not every fit, especially not every category has a multiple of 12
members. Secondly with 8 wheels in use much of the beauty of TW, the quick
access, became blurred, since I hade to switch wheels a lot (even with different
hardware buttons to launch different wheels). One problem with this is brain
overload, since I remember most apps by name, but icons are often rather
similar. So I don't find what I look for (since the icons are not named, I have
to rotate a lot).
So at most I would like to juggle with about 4 wheels (2 for the most common
apps, one with shark links and one for history). For the rest I will be going
back to standard launcher (ZLauncher).
In any case that is probably ok, since to reproduce all functionality of e.g.
ZLauncher (Explorer, Popup menu w/ info, delete, send, move and copy, a trash
bin to undelete...) is going to exceed the possibilities of a resident program
like TW.
Having this said, I still have some thoughts about a QuickFind, but to keep this
post short, I start a new topic for this.
Cheers
Volker

could also have the option of setting up a wallpaper or background (below the
wheel)?
