Good idea.

Yeah, we really didn't consider the case of tasks spanning midnight and needing
to separate them by days, so right now it's not supported. The only way right
now to get such a report is to manually create a time split at midnight so that
the times appear separately. I'll make a note that this ought to be changed in
TealTracker, or at least made an option, as others might encounter it to.
Alternatively, we could add a simple function that goes through the database and
automatically add the split at midnight. This might be easier to implement with
the current code.

For those of you looking for a budget capacitive stylus, a buck will now get you
one of those sausages used in Korean iPhone users. It should work on the Palm

Either one of those options seems like it would be great.  Just the tone of the response, with the implication that there is hope for future development on any palm device, gives me great joy and happiness.  FWIW, I currently work around by setting the option to end "forgotten" tasks at midnight.

Thanks Again for the Great Products and Support!!!

Subject: TealAuto, TealTracker, TealPaint, etc on WebOS
tealtex

A lot of you have been asking about webOS versions of some of our apps, so we
wanted to give you a quick update:

PREVIOUS PROGRESS USING SDK

Up to this point, Palm has required apps to be written in Javascript in their
exclusive web-based SDK, which means that any apps would have to be re-written
from scratch to run under webOS. While we write six new apps for WebOS,
rewriting a sizeable app like TealAuto was quite an undertaking and we'd been
making only slow progress.

NEW PROGRESS USING PDK

Recently, however, they've released a beta version of their new PDK development
environment, which allows developers to compile native code for webOS. After
only a week of development, we've successfully ported over a rough version of
our TICL app framework to the PDK, and now have a working alpha version of
TealAuto running on the Palm Pre.

There is still much to do, however, as we need to alter the framework to add a
webOS look and feel. Also, there's also no way yet to get beta versions out to
you unless you're a developer. But be assured that apps based on our TICL
framework such as TealAuto, TealTracker, TealPaint, and others as well will be
on their way.

DATA COMPATIBILITY AND UPGRADING

These TICL apps will save and load data from the USB volume, so you'll be able
to use your data files from existing PalmOS/Windows Mobile versions. Palm
doesn't have an upgrade mechanism right now, but due to the low price points in
webOS, we'll likely set the full price below what we normally charge for an
update anyway.

FUTURE FOR HACKS AND SIMILAR APPS

However, webOS still restricts apps from communicating or interacting with other
apps. Because of this, it's still not possible to do webOS versions of apps
that interact with other apps or their data such as TealLock, TealBackup and
TealScript. Doing so would require breaking rules that must be met to get into
the online App Catalog, which makes this second type of app a financial
non-starter until Palm changes this policy.

Thanks,

Yes!! After two months of turmoil, we've finally gotten through the quirks and
bugs in the pdk submission process and gotten TealAuto into the Palm App
Catalog!

TealAuto for WebOS is our first app of many using the Palm PDK, and is fully
data-compatible with its PalmOS, WinMo, and PC cousins. Its interface will be
very familiar for users of the previous versions, though souped up graphically
to match the WebOS visual style of course. It is currently only available for
the Palm Pre and Palm Pre plus due to screen space requirements.

Please try the app, and if you like it, it would really help us if you would
post a 5-star review.

As usual, please contact us first if you run into any issues, suggestions, or
concerns. We'll continue to improve the app, so please let us know your
suggestions and findings first. We found a couple of bugs and minor limitations
in the current Palm PDK that we're prodding Palm to address, but we think you'll
really enjoy this new release:

TealAuto for WebOS is $4.99 and available on your phone in the App Catalog or
at:

http://developer.palm.com/webChannel/index.php?packageid=com.tealpoint.tealauto

PS: Next up... TealSafe for WebOS is already done but awaiting clearance from
the US Department of Commerce (because it uses encryption) before Palm will let
us sell it. TealTracker for WebOS is in an operational state but needs more
visual UI tweaks.

Excellent! I just downloaded, now I just need to export the data from my Centro
and import it.

One VERY minor bug, when entering a zero into the vehicle name field, instead of
the normal Orange button click then @ to get a zero, I had to hold the Orange
button and @ to get a zero. Not a big deal, just threw me for a minute.

Glad to see Teal Auto on WebOS.

We've already had TealSafe done internally for over a month, but haven't been
able to release it because Palm requires any apps with encryption to get
certified though the US Department of Commerce. We've started the process to
try to submit the proper forms, but never heard anything back.

Will fix it. The Palm PDK (unlike the SDK) actually does not support 2-press
shift functionality, so we had to implement our own and must have missed this.

TealTracker for WebOS has just appeared in the Palm App Catalog! It supports
importing and exporting of data compatible with the PalmOS, Windows Mobile, and
PC versions.

Now, we're continuing to see if we can get the proper export control paperwork
filed with the government so we can finish submitting TealSafe for WebOS, which
we've had done for two months now.

Greetings,

Somewhat off-topic, but loosely related to TealScanner, which I am a registered
owner of. I am also a longtime and happy registered user of many other fine
Teal Products... Anyway, I have two issues that hopefully you can help with:

First, I am frequently getting an error message after syncing my TX that states
"some handheld records were not copied to desktop. DT 3951, HH 3959". Does
anyone know why this is happening and is there a fix? I can't find any records
that are missing and if I just sync again the message goes away.

Second, I recently did a hard reset on my TX and I lost all categories in the
native palm applications. does anyone know how to prevent this in the future
and/or how to get the categories back?

Thanks,
Dwight...

Not sure about the syncing error, but it seems like a potentially damaged
record. Try to track down which database it is by selectively (and temporarily)
disabling various conduits and hotsyncing.

Regarding the lost categories, I seem to recall a strange issue long time ago
with some of the native apps expecting certain hard-coded categories (like Work
and Personal) and not restoring backed up ones if the expected names were not
present. I don't have a reference, but try Googling for this.

Subject: TealPaint 2.2.1 released for WebOS
tealtex

Hello All,

We've just released TealPaint for webOS, which is version 2.21 to match the
numbering scheme of our PalmOS version. This program runs in native code
painstakingly written using Palm's new bare-bones native PDK, and is the first
full-featured drawing and photo-editing app for webOS.

Please check it out. We released the first version, 2.20, last week, and just
posted a quick update that speeds up import and export operations. If you like
it, please consider giving it a 5-star review which would really help us stand
out and justify extra development time for it.

As with other PDK apps, webOS 1.4.5 or higher is required. If you want to save
or export pics to the USB volume, if you updated to webOS using an over-the-air
update, you'll need to run "FStab Fixer" to write-enable your USB volume to
PDK-based apps. This is because the version of webOS Palm sent to carriers had
a mistake in a permissions control file that was later fixed in versions of
webOS bundled with webOS Doctor or pre-installed on devices.

As usual, for any questions, issues, or suggestions, please contact us via our
online contact form at www.tealpoint.com/support.htm

thanks,

Subject: TealPoint Apps for Android 2.3
tealtex

Hi folks!

A common question that we often get is whether we'll be adding support for
Android devices. Up to this point, the main stumbling block has been that
Android apps needed to be written mostly or entirely in Java within Android's
proprietary framework.

With the recent release of Gingerbread last month, however, Google has beefed up
Android's native code support with a new version of their Native Development Kit
(NDK) that now supports apps fully written in compiled C code, allowing us to
port over many of our existing applications with the help of our proprietary
TICL gui framework.

We've been working with the NDK for about a week now, and already have a rough
but functional version of TealAuto up and running on the emulator.

If you have a Nexus S (or other Android 2.3 device when they become available)
and would like to try some early beta versions, please drop us a line through
our support page. The library is still missing a lot of functionality and still
has a webOS look and feel, but we'd like to get some real world feedback on
performance, what areas to concentrate our time, and to gauge the interest in
further development. Let us know if you're interested!

As always, thanks for your support.

Unfortunately, TealWeb never got anywhere near a usable product. It only did
rendering of static html files, and didn't even have any network access hooked
up. Add the complexities of redirection, javascript, etc and that's why we
stopped work on it. It also is written on top of our proprietary TICL
abstraction platform, which is still in use and core to our business so there's
no way we could release complete source code and the browser code would be
useless without the library.

alpha. I use a device called a DanaWireless that runs palm os this is to only
browser that fits its 3.5x times normal size with screen. I know that they are
used in schools all over the country and that the browser that came with them is
no longer supported due to the company being sold. I was not looking for a
handout or free software but a chance to help bring it out of alpha into a
usable product. I am just shocked it took two years to get a response about if
help was wanted in its development. I knew it was not open source or the source
would be freely available to work on that is why I asked if help was
wanted/needed in creating it. I apologize if this response sounds condescending
it is not meant to be. and I do appreciate finally getting some kind of a
response.

Subject: TealAuto for Android Released to Android Market

Hello All.

We just released our first app for Android: TealAuto!

It's a first release and our first experience with Android and the Android
Market, so we have our fingers crossed and hope it does well and makes up for
the loss of webOS, PalmOS, Windows Mobile. It's the same great TealAuto you've
come to know and love, so we have high hopes that it will represent a great new
start.

As with any new experience, there is the potential for rough spots, so if any of
you try it and run into some, send us a message through our online support form
and we'll do our best to smooth it out right away.

TealAuto was written on top of our TICL platform abstration technology, which we
ported to the native Android NDK that was released with Gingerbread (Android
2.3). Now that the library is ported we have the capability of easily
converting other apps as well. We've had a couple of requests for TealTracker,
so that may be likely since that is a straightforward app.

Please wish us luck, and thanks for your support over the years,

-tex

Now that they've dumped WebOS, it seems doubly silly that they attacked you guys for making TealOS.  Oh well, I guess karma really is a biotch.

Good luck!

And I can't wait to see what else you'll be porting to (or creating on/for)
Android!

Hi All.

Today, we just released TealTracker for Android to the Android Marketplace.
Like TealAuto for Android, TealTracker is written using the "native" code
features of the Android Gingerbread NDK, and thus requires Android 2.3 or higher
to run.

It's a first release on the platform, of course, so let us know your feedback or
if there is anything we missed.

Next, we'll probably finish up the TealPaint for Android that we have in beta.
We've also had some requests for TealDoc, so either it, TealSafe, or TealDiet
are likely candidates for porting to Android.

thanks,

-tex

YEA!!!!  I've only suffered for a year waiting for this.  :-)  Anyway, I've purchased for my phone and now want to be sure that it will work with my existing tealtracker desktop.  One thing I realized would be nice, is a field that allows you to put in a pause time that would be subtracted out of the total duration, like for a workday, I could put in lunch time based on minutes. By doing so would allow it to be automatically subtracted from total duration hours logged when running reports.

I second the request for 24 hour time.  Hopefully this includes the ability to track time periods that extend past midnight, e.g. 1800 - 0600 shifts...
