Every month I try to bring you new ideas for your website. If you
don't have a website, I hope that when you start to design one (or
have it professionally done), you can look over the past newsletters
and have an effective design in place. Customers are looking for
certain things. These include fast load times, few annoying
animations, and of course the information they seek.




Probably the biggest mistake that beginning designers make is the
over-use of images. While sometimes "neat", they also slow down your
web page dramatically. With broadband and other fast pipelines to the
Internet on the rise, your customers have become accustomed to the
high speed rate. If your page is 80% images, and it takes more than
8-10 seconds to load, statistics show that these people may just hit
their BACK button and go onto another site. That's not good!




The key is to use images, but make them effective. Saving JPG images
as "Progressive" helps soothe the user while the image loads. Saving
your graphics in web colors will also dramatically reduce the file
size. The less colors, the faster the page loads!

Feature Client Site




Recently Lighthouse Technologies finished up a site redesign for
Nations Security, Inc. located in Saint Charles, Missouri. The
business owner wanted something a little more "jazzed up" and we were
