HKTerm 2002 The Asian-Pacific Workshop on Terminology

Terminology Association of Hong Kong (TAHK)
29-30 March 2002, Hong Kong

Theme of Workshop

HKTerm 2002 is aimed to provide a forum for sharing valuable experiences
from academics, industrialists and government bodies in terminology and its
applications in the Asian-Pacific region. More specifically, the main theme
of this workshop is to raise the awareness of terminology work in education,
research and its applications in IT, translation, and communication. With
the coining of more terms in different disciplines in different regions, how
term definitions and usage could be coordinated more scientifically and
publicized more effectively should be an intriguing and rewarding activity.
We would like to invite all interested parties to take part in this workshop
and help promote the awareness of terminology work in the region.

Topics of interest (as mini tracks) include, but are not limited to:

· Government roles in terminology standardization
· Translation and terminology
· IT and Internet and their impact on Terminology

IT terminology standardization, multilingual and multi-functional
terminological databases, terminology search and information retrieval
through internet, system design and implementations

· In-house terminology development and practice in private sectors
· Harmonization of terminology in different regions
