Subject: [terragenfriends] Collaborative Project?

I'm looking to partner up with one or more Landscape artists from
here. I have a small group of primarily 2D character artists and I'm
a Maya/modo/ZBrush character artist and filmmaker. I'm do the writing
and most of the character modeling on this. We have one seasoned Vue
landscape artist, but I'm seriously hoping to to bring a couple of
other people on board to add some new ideas and lighten the load of
the work. Trying to mesh Vue and Terragen renders along with the
other 3D assets could be a little problematic, but still doable. Does
anyone know if Terregen can output HDRI spherical image renders for
better render matching?

For more info on the project please shoot me a message at

Congratulations,
Sounds as if you are doing very well!
I also have not Terragen-ed in some time, (Oh no, but it's true.)
And if I get the nerve to port over to Ubuntu, can I post to the list
and ask you questions? ... :-)

I feel I have to have an extra machine to try and learn on while work
goes on as usual on this one. I expect it may be easier to use Linux,
that to try and make Vista work (speculation of course).

I agree as well. It's been a long time since most of us have been in
touch as we used to... too much time I'd say.

As for me: I still work for Lenovo, got married last year (7 months
today) and I have been neglecting my terrageneering mostly because I've
ported all my personal PCs to Linux; and haven't found enough time to
try and get the thing running under Wine.

Why don't others chime in and tell the old TG friends what you've been
up to?

Best regards,

Esteban

Hi Jo

Shame about the "cramped" conditions... but heyy.. looks like you've got
inspiration on your doorstep....unless of course it's the usual come hither
jiggery pokery that property developers generally use to entice the
unsuspecting.
;)

The closest i come to inspiration out of my windows is the South

Hi everyone,

First TG friends post for a while :-). Anyway, the place I live has a
website now. They're selling more plots of land in the village just
at the moment. They have a pretty good gallery. The website is :

<http://www.castlehillmountainvillage.co.nz/>

I should say that most of the houses don't look the Swiss Chalet one,
although they have tried to make the place feel a bit like a European
mountain resort with a lot of firs, larches, aspens and whatnot
planted round the place rather than NZ native trees, which I would
have preferred. Although I do like the location, lots of outdoors
stuff to do close by, I don't much like living in the village because
the houses are really packed together and there is no sense of
privacy. It's almost like living in town. It's not so bad during the
week, but weekends and holidays can be pretty bad.

We actually have some land at a similar sort of place further up the
South Island :

<http://www.mtlyford.co.nz/>

We think this will be a much nicer place to live because the sections
are much larger, ours is 4500 m2 whereas a really large one here
would be about 800 m2. We have a stream and a pretty big section of
beech forest on our section, and all you can see of the neighbours
are a few bits of roof poking above the trees. We hope to build a
house there next summer. Unfortunately the gallery isn't so good at
the site above, it's mostly for the skifield.

Regards,

Jo

At one time I was very activity in this group and with Terragen in
general. The things that caused me to take a back seat to Terragen are
now on the back burner as well and I'd like to see a lot of the old
time fire for Terragen and the creative ways to use it come back. I
miss the off topic discussion among Terragen friends. I was looking
at my Yahoo Groups and deleting some old groups I started a long time
ago but are no longer needed and unsubscribing from some groups whose
e-mail were doing nothing but wasting my time. I just wanted to say I
didn't want to leave the Terragen friends group and now that Terragen
is back in active development and the general public is enjoying it
maybe we can restore that excitement and sense of community from those
who love Terragen and it's potential.

Hey All,

(one reply to avoid the spam...)

Thanks all for the wishes... so far it has been great, although it has
only been two months.

Ray, havin kids is not in our plans for a couple of years at least, that
shpould give you some time to work with leveler ;-)

Jo, Truout fishing? Fly casting by any chance? I guess it's a good
escape from all the "when will TG2 be out?" preasure...

As for me, still working for Lenovo and trying not to die in the attempt.

Best wishes and merry Christmas in case we don't talk,

Congratulations ! All my best wishes to you and your wife.

Working ! ;-). Actually, aside from that, over the last few months
I've become obsessive about trout fishing, and having recently got a
new camera I also plan to become obsessive about landscape
photography again. Nothing as good as getting married though :-).

Merry Christmas to you as well.

Jo

Hey, congrats, good stuff. May your future be bright. These are the

Hmm... if you have children before I get Leveller 2.6 done, then I know
I'm taking too long. :)

We? That would be you and ??

Jams - according to the home page, the Terragen list is (this is a quote,
OK?)

"Description
Everything about Terragen, a landscape rendering program by Matt Fairclough"

I hope that includs Terragen images too. But maybe you need to tell everyone
(other than that mysterious "we" you mentioned) what "we" (the other "we,
the ones not in your "we" group) should or shouldn't discuss on the Terragen
list?

Images? Nope.

Plugins? No wait, those are only added on... so nevermind.

Animations? Hmmm no, that needs "other" software too.

The future of Terragen? Nah, too much barking about that already.

History of Terragen?

This is all too confusing for us little folks. Oh my. What's left?

"We" seek your guidance in Everything Terragen. Tell us all, the little
people, what we should discuss, what is allowed. We await your
pronouncement.

I feel so foolish - all these years thinking that I could depend on the
Terragen list to be there for "EVERYTHING about Terragen"

Darn.

so, um, you decide to use a subject as a means of showing off your
work... basically a threadjack... not a good start if you ask me

technically, your post belongs in TG friends, this isnt a discussion
list about images, this is a list about TG itself (coding, bugging mat
to find out when its coming out, scripts, etc)

but thats ok, we wont hold it against you, yet.

Hi All

Various people asked for more kitten pix. I actually got him last
Friday, a week earlier than expected and I borrowed a digital camera
from work.

Note I ended up taking 31 photos - I consider myself very restrained
that I have only posted 4.

He is doing brilliantly well and Im delighted with him

Apologies for the uninteresting message everyone, I'm trying to get ahold of
Fraser Smith.

Fraser, if you see this, please drop me a line at Oshyan AT Oshyan.com. I
sent an e-mail to you directly, but I'm not sure it got through. You may
just be on holiday, but I'd like to discuss something with you before the
end of the year, so I'd love to hear from you soon if possible.

Thanks! Happy Holidays. :)

Not so Old as many of you but older than most, yet...

I was in my teens when I joined... Now in my mid-twenties (well, past mid, but,
whatever!!); never got a car though, in that same period of time...

Only I got my degree, went to live with my GF, going to marry sometime next year
and
waiting for TG to go beyond the 0.something ;-)

Just though I should step in and remind everyone I'm still alive and smoking
fish!!

Best,

Esteban A. Glas
