The black spanish should do well. My mother grows black spanish in
Ozona, and the Qualias grow a large amount down in Del Rio at the Val
Verde Winery. In fact, my mother got her cuttings from them. I'm
currently growing 20 cabernet savignon vines east of Georgetown, but
without too much luck, as the grasshoppers are ravenous, and I can't
keep spraying poisons every week, just isn't safe. I've talked to some
folks in Fredericksburg and quite a few of them are recommending I try
Syrah or Grenache. I have 10 plantable acres outside Mason on the Llano
River that I plan on growing Syrah one of these days.
