Hi Andrea, mine looks the same, without a toolbar at the top. I assumed it was supposed to be like that, but now that you mention it, it is a little odd......

Andrea, For the new GIMP 2.6 the menu bar on top of the toolbox-window was removed and merged into the other (initially empty) window. So the other (empty)...

I see what the issue is. After re-installing it, the secondary window where the actual picture appears is completely hidden. The toolbox window was so large...
