One of the five users who upgraded to 10.1.0.7 sent me the following message:

"Going back to 9.7.2. Can't keep up with Toad 10 keeps throwing Access Violation errors in USER32.Dll every 15 minutes."

Does anybody else have the same problem?

These features are currently available in Toad for Data Analysts, which you have access to for free assuming your support is current on your Toad Oracle license.  In addition, it can also build a Synch script.

In our developement environment we have issues in keeping our seed data in synch between our different databases - DEV/TEST/UAT. The Data Compare wizard is excellent at highlighting these discrepancies but it would be really useful if:

1. You could specify multiple tables
2. You could save your comparison to do again at a later date
3. You could automate the running of the comparison
4. You could export to Excel the results of the comparison
5. You could e-mail those results

If all of my selected tables were in a tree view I could alter the individual settings if I wanted to but also see the results of the compare in a unified view allowing me to quickly identify tables where they were not the same.

We could export the results in a format that TOAD would recognise, we could e-mail this (instead of Excel format) and open it in TOAD (the requirement here is for me to be able to run the report and share the results with colleagues).

The automatic fetch caused by a group action is not cancellable.    If you are unsure about how many rows you have, do a CTRL+End before your grouping, then you can cancel if needed.

I noticed the ‘cancel’ button is disabled when I tried to do a Group function on a grid whose dataset was a 1,000,000 rows.  My execute queries in threads is disabled, but I thought query execution was always a cancellable (sp?) event now…or am I mistaken?

Hey Rodrigo,

In the short-term, you should be able to manually copy the CONNECTIONS.INI file
into your new Toad 10 user folder. You won't be able to copy the
CONNECTIONPWDS.INI file, as this file is encrypted and is updated during the
migration process. However, this should at least get you your connections, and
you can manually re-add your passwords by selecting the "Save Passwords" options
and connecting to each of your connections.

However, in order to help solve the cause of this issue, if you'd like to pursue
it further, can you send me offline the following?

1) Your Toad.INI file from your old 9.7 folder (that you're trying to migrate).
2) Your Toad.INI file from your migrated Toad 10.0 folder (that isn't working).
3) Your CONNECTIONS.INI file from your old 9.7 folder (if you're able to without
violating any company policies). Please *do not* send the CONNECTIONPWDS.INI
file.
4) Your Toad support bundle from within Toad 10.

I can try to reproduce your issue locally here and attempt to locate why your
migration is not happening successfully.

Thanks,

-John

Hi John,

Thanks for your help, but the problem isn’t solved yet!!!

After Toad is restarted, it asks if I want to restore my toolbar configuration
or if I want to reset them because toolbars are changed now. I tried with the
two options, but the problem is the same.

Installing the patch when you have dual monitors.......repositions every screen in the middle (i.e. split between the 2 monitors) no matter how many times you move one, the next one goes right back.

Hi!

When I ask TOAD to look for updates it tells me that release 10.1.0.7 is available.

But I can't find it anywhere.
Not on Quest supportLink and not here...

Does anyone have a link where I can download it from or is there a reason why I can't find it anywhere (bugs etc...)?

Hello Toad Team;

Using 10.1, I get a Toad exception (i.e. not an oracle error but the 'Error
occurred' popup with the call stack) if I try to update a date in an editable
data grid when I don't have mm/dd/yyyy specified as my date format in the data
grid options. I didn't test all the formats, but I normally use yyyy/mm/dd as
my date format and that generates the error, and so does dd/mm/yyyy so I'm
guessing the data grid is not taking into account the display format in use when
updating. Let me know if this can't be reproduced or if it could somehow be due
to a config problem.

Happy Monday,
Troy

We posted the workaround/solution earlier.  Here it is again

WORKAROUND:
1) Close Toad for Oracle.
2) Rename the FmtOptions.exe file, located in the C:Program FilesQuest SoftwareToad for Oracle 10 folder, to FmtOptions.exe.old.
3) Place the FmtOptions.exe file that is attached to this solution in your Toad for Oracle 10 folder.
4) Launch Toad and select View | Formatter Options.
4b) close Formatter Options (otherwise you get a cannot delete dialog box)
5) Without closing Toad, remove the FmtOptions.exe file you put in your Toad for Oracle 10 folder and rename the FmtOptions.exe.old back to FmtOptions.exe.

You sure you have something selected on the left?  You have to click into an object for the RHS to update, otherwise it just shows a detail list of ALL objects of that type.

Hello!

What happened to the right side of SB? It used to contain the description of the object selected on the left side, i.e the source code of a function or a package.

Now it shows some weird object list (list of functions or packages for this example).

What am i missing?

Greetings,

I would like to be able to save my password within a session but not across Toad
sessions. I am currently using version 9.7.2.5.

I used to be able to do that with version 8.

This issue is fixed in the next patch release.  The work-around is to use tree view or dropdown view Schema Browser.

Hey Rodrigo,

When you removed your Toad 10 User Files and the migration screen came up, was there more than one option for Toad 9.7 in the drop-down box?  What other options were listed in that box?  Have you verified that the path listed in the drop-down box is the actual path to your user files folder?  I’m wondering if another path (perhaps from another 9.7 installation) got listed in that box as well.  Also, are you running Toad on your own local machine, or are you in a Citrix or Terminal Server environment?

One other thing you can try is to rename (or remove) your Toad 10 folder, start up Toad to get to the migration wizard.  On this screen, you’ll see the drop-down list listing previous versions’ folders.  Next to this drop-down list is an ellipse button.  This button will manually allow you to manually select your old application folder.  You want to select the application folder itself, not the user files folder.  In other words, if your user files folder is listed in:

c:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\9.7\User Files

… you’ll want to select the following directory when you click on the ellipse button:

C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\9.7

This should allow you to override the drop-down box and manually select your old app data folder.  Good luck!  And let us know if you continue to have trouble.

Thanks,

-John

Darn grid consistency!  Well I will leave it like it is.  I will just have that extra click every once in a while.

This one came out of the ‘grid consistency’ movement.     All grids remember their settings now.

This is an unsupported hack, but seems to be harmless - you can lock in the settings for that grid by making this file read only:

<user files>\GUISettings\gridCols.TfrmTableObject.tabColumns.grd

Be sure to set the grid how you want it and then close the SB first.

Ah it is remembering it.  I've just noticed that too in the last week or so that sometimes the columns would come up in the wrong order.  I don't remember it doing that in the beta.

The norm for me (98% of the time) is viewing them in ID order and once in a while (2% or less of the time) I will sort by another column like column name or data type.  The next table I go to I would want them to show back up in ID order.  I'm guess I'm not liking the remembering part.

Click the ‘ID’ column header to sort.  It will remember what you set it at.

If you select a table, and press F4, the columns are listed in some bizarre order, such as field 3, field 6, field 14, field 1, etc. This never happened in any prior versions of TOAD, and is very time-consuming to fix. Please fix this soon.

Thanks. Paul
