Subject: You check eBay store for Pyu-ta items of great rarity!

Hi,
For many Tomy items of great rarity you check eBay store of Loose Logic:
http://www.stores.ebay.com/id=32225823&ssPageName=L2

Seriously, the seller is from Japan and sells many Japanese items for
all video games. He has quite a few Tomy items up under the Tomy Pyu-ta
(Tutor) page but they are definately not inexpensive. But if you are a
serious collecter he may have an item you need to complete your
collection. Right now he has a Tomy Pyu-ta JP video game, an expansion
connector for it, and several Tomy Tutors including one for a min bid of
$49.95. He also has numerous games for sale. Just be sure to keep in
mind the cost of shipping from Japan can be a bit more.

I just lost my job (and benefits) so I'm really tapped out right now.
I'd love to get the Mahjongg game. I have versions of Mahjongg for
almost every system I own as well as over 50 versions for the PC. As
you can tell it's my favorite game.

Anyway, I hope someone can benefit from this info. I have no connection
with the auctions or the seller, it just popped up on my Tomy Tutor
saved search from eBay tonight.

Yes, there are some interesting Tomy Pyyuta items.. I am not sure
I'll be bidding either. The good times of the 1990's are over.. :(

...I haven't quite lost my job (figure I'm good 'til the end of
January). But I did lose my storage area! I'm going to have to get
rid of some of the old computers I'm least likely to be playing with,
and I don't get to buy any more :(

I wonder if Cameron would like all my TI junk (and when I say junk, I
mean old junk bought on E-Bay).

What "junk" specifically? Mail me off list (I'm back from vacation).

Incidentally, allow me to share my joy --- my Pyuuta Mark II is in my
possession! WAHOO! No manual, but the box and the unit is in fabulous
condition, and it came with the controllers as well. I'll try to sit
down and fire it up tomorrow sometime.

The keyboard alone is an improvement over the Pyuuta and the Tutor :-)

I finally got the Pyuuta Mark II up for testing on the workbench. The Mac's
TV tuner required a little coaxing to accept Japanese NTSC cable frequency
(it has no composite out ... ?!) and the Mac was still spitting out tonnes
of RFI, but I could see enough of the picture.

Good news: the machine (mostly) works (see Bad news). The ROMs are identical
to the American Tutor firmware, version 2.3, which jives with my original
information on the PM2. It accepts all of my American cartridges, although I
haven't plugged a Japanese one in it yet to test its character support. I'll
do that tonight.

The keyboard is *soooo* much better. MOD and MON are in logical places, even.
The only downer is that the cursor controls are still weirdly located
although it is a definite improvement. It feels like a shallow CoCo keyboard
to me, but that's not really a bad thing.

Bad news: the BASIC ROM seems to be farked. I can't get into BASIC from the
MONitor or from the MENU; I get the green screen, and then it unexpectedly
cold-reboots itself. This might be repairable though because since it
looks like the firmware is identical, I should be able to cannibalize a
BASIC ROM from a working (or at least a partially working one ... would hate
to do this to a fully functional Tutor) Tutor and get this in 100% working
order.

Power supply and connectors seem fully operational.

Whee, now all I need is a Grandstand Tutor and a Pyuuta Jr :-) does anyone
else out there have a Pyuuta Mark II? Or a Grandstand or a Junior?

I tried to get it, but I was outbid. It sold for well over $200. I
DID get Battlefighter and Athletic Land, so now I only need four of
the 26 Japanese cartridges to have a complete set (with some
doubles). I also won an interesting oddity, a commercial TOMY
cassette with two programs on it: MSLZ and UFO1. I got the tape
yesterday, but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet.
Unfortunately for me, the instructions are completely in Japanese, a
language I can't read (yet).

If you need help with the translation, let me know. I need to get back

If I had the manual it would be at my website with the MC-10 and
Aquarious manuals <http://www.neosplice.com/~dsbrain/retro/dl.htm> but
I don't have a copy. I am also anxious to get it. So if anyone has it
in text, HTML or pre-5.0 PDF format I'd like to know also.

Hello.
I came for greetings this day.
I am "LOOSE-LOGIC".
I live in Japan and exhibit PYU-TA ITEM at EBAY regularly.
However, I am a collector, too.
:)

I respect a lively active TUTOR(PYU-TA) collector very much.
I am devoted to document rearranging of PYU-TA currently, too.
I will print it in WEB several months later.
Thank you I ask.
I want to get to know with a lot of collector & players.

Because English is not a native language, as for me, English is very
clumsy.
Please please forgive it.
Thank you very much.
Masato.

PS

I put an advertisement of PYU-TA in an image folder.
Please please watch it
:)

having you here is very cool.

I was wondering if you have ever come across Panasonic JR-200
computer items?

Thanks..

Hi folks,

Just read that some of you was looking for some game roms.
I have found 7 so far (all of them where compressed in ARK
format). I manage to find a ARK decompressor and finally got
them in BIN format.

But what is curious is that there are either 35K or 77K, and
usually there are supposed to be 32K or 64K....very weird. I'm
no expert on dumping cartridges or developping softwares, so
i've put the 7 roms in the "Files" section so if someone can
do something about these.

So enjoy them!!!

If you look at carrace.bin with a hex editor, there's a bunch
of stuff about pizza in it. Is that normal?

I have to admit that the sizes don't sound right, but there's
some apparent "header" info in the files that look "normal"
(like "TRAFFIC1" through "TRAFFIC5" in the Traffic Jam ROM.

But, there are also gaps full of spaces (see 3FC2 through 403B
for a big one), and the end of the files are a bunch of 00s.
Possibly these are bad dumps?
