I'm sorry that you're still having problems.
Unfortunately, several people who have tried Tonescape
have reported problems with DirectX. The problem there
is that Microsoft keeps changing it, and newer versions
are not always totally backwards-compatible with
older versions. We are currently hoping to get some
help from programmers to help us port the graphics engine
from DirectX to OpenGL.
The other problem you report is also unfortunately
rather common. Tonescape relies on very advanced 3-D
graphics, and if your video card isn't up to the task
you'll have trouble. I myself cannot run Tonescape on
my laptop because the video card is too outdated and/or
not powerful enough.
